As pmatic stated, his max starts at only a few million more than he is scheduled to make in 23-24 (final year of his deal). Averaging like $34MM per year. Cap and luxury tax threshold will raise over the course of the deal too. It is not some crazy numbers

Edit: I would also like to add that he is 100% a player that has to be in the right situation. He will not work everywhere (most bad or young teams) but there are a number of good situations where he could flourish like he has in Golden State
