He's gonna get a long term deal for playing ONE good game all playoffs. It's all upwards for Harden

Ehhh I don’t think it’s that. It’s probably legacy, hope that he will be better with a healed hammy/taking his offseason seriously, trading Simmons who was Iocked up for 3 more seasons for a guy who only played 1.5 would look really bad and from a salary cap perspective they can do more this upcoming offseason and in the future by getting him at a lower number for 2023-2024 beyond now.

Even with the cap raise in 2023-2024 they currently have Tobi @ $41MM and Embiid @ $44MM on the payroll. If Harden bounced for some reason they would be screwed.

But I say all of that admitting I have been a fan of the Harden trade and Morey trade
