Because the fence is 2 feet high and came off a player.
In no other stadium does that happen.
They may as well start kicking baseballs over the wall for ground rule doubles.

because it didn’t just hit field and go over. Hit wall, ground, Renfroe and then went over. It’s also up to the Umpire on where to place the runners and Diaz would have clearly scored as he was running on the pitch.

Buddy it hit the field and then it went out… it doesn’t matter if it hits a wall or a person in between hitting the field and going out… It hit the field and then it bounced out. Only question the umpire has is if it’s intentional and he didnt think it was

dude. It hit off renfroe then went out. Problem wasn’t the umps thinking it was intentional. It was and is they’re decision on where the lead runner in particular ends up. He would of scored easily. They analysts said that and their Ump from the booth who the broadcast refers to said so.

i never said that it just hit him and went over. The original commentof mine that you quoted even says what you just said. The problem wasn’t that it went over. The problem was the umps not placing the runners where they should of been. Diaz should of scored because he was running on the pitch and would have scored easily if the ball stayed in play. They also should of placed the batter at 3rd because the ball hitting the wall, the ground and then Renfroe it’s not really true ground rule double and the umps could move him up. Just like a ball being batted into the field of play, fielder fielding and throwing and it going into the stands. That’s all the ump in the broadcast booth was saying. That runner should have scored. Changes the whole ball game.

But the runner goes back to his original base at the start of the play. If the pitcher doesn’t throw the ball then the play hasn’t started yet. So if you wanna run in that situation you’re taking a chance.

Again the umpire has complete discretion on that lead runner. Ump in broadcast booth and analysts all said he should of scored. That’s what the fuss is about and changes that game.

How should he have scored? He started off on first base and the ground rule double pushes him to third.

Again, it is the umpire’s discretion. If the umps feel he could of scored on that if it was in play, they can rule it as such. It’s not just a move the runner two bases because it’s a ground rule double rule. Diaz was running on the pitch and was stepping/rounding 3rd when the ball hit the field before it went over. He would have scored easily.

Exactly he was running on the pitch so where did he start though? He started at first base. He kept running because he thought it was a homer and it wasn’t so he goes to third in the batter who hit the double goes to second.
