2024 MLB Thread; RIP Willie Mays & Pete Rose. Dodgers win #8!

I saw somewhere earlier today and now I can't find it but since 2000, the highest payroll in MLB has only won the WS 4 times. 👀

13 year deal, sheesh. But this isn’t the NBA where superstar free agents = championships.

The Astros let Correa walk. His replacement had a great season and won World Series MVP. The Astros didn’t miss a beat. If he was that much of a game changer, they shouldn’t have been able to replace him that easily. They literally plugged Jeremy Peña in and Correa was an afterthought.

Goes to show the importance of scouting and player development though.

Ohtani is going to be the first $65 million per year man.

10 years/$650 million

Maybe more Idk. I just know it’s going to be crazy.

Some people thought the Padres overpaid for Xander at $280 million and 11 years. His annual average salary is at $25 million per season.

are you saying the giants overpaid in comparison? i mean correa's what, 2 mil more AAV? he's much better than xander, also younger.

Correra is only 2 years younger than Xander. Correa's annual average per season has to be at least be in the $30 million per season range and his deal has 2 more years in it.
