24 Looking to build Credit... What are some good tips on your first Credit Card

I've never heard of a $100 CC limit.

Most companies won't let it even go through. You can try pre-paying the card so you have a credit but even then some companies don't allow it.

Some do offer a sort of overdraft option which incurs fees. YMMV.

:lol

Word. Where they do that at?

I think the guy was just wondering how CCs work. Swipe your card to pay the $300, you'll get your bill within the next month. If you pay off the $300 in full by the time your payment is due, then there is no additional fees. If say you pay $100, and leave the remaining $200 to go on to the next bill, then that $200 will have added fees depending on the APR of the card. If you pay off your bill every month, you will never pay a cent to the CC companies (assuming your card has no annual fees). I've yet to pay a single cent of interest to CC companies while reaping all of the benefits by using them.

In order to receive 5% cash back from CCs does it have to report that amount or can i buy something with the CC like $100 for example and pay it off right after before it even reports?

Not sure but I once bought a $2000 suit at Nordstrom to meet the spending threshold to get points.

Nordstrom let's you return funds to whatever card you want, returned the suit using my debit card. :lol

yoooo idk if y'all know but credit karma just added a new feature called "direct dispute" where you can dispute any derogatories on your transunion or equifax report. I've had this ~$200 hospital bill I had no idea about showing on only my transunion category on CK and under my transunion FICO score category with my Discover IT card. I've been meaning to do all the paperwork to dispute it, but kept slacking. When I looked at it randomly a few days ago there was a new button next to that derogatory mark. Decided to hit it and there's a ton of options for them to contact the CU of choice to get more info and investigate and file a dispute. Chose the "I don't know what this is" for mine, and in 3 days I just checked my email saying the investigation closed. The report back from was Transunion said they decided to just delete and remove that file from my report. My TU jumped 30 or 40 points instantly and now all my scores match up in the 750 range :smokin Use that feature y'all!!

About to tell my girl about this since she has a few hospital bills and other random things on her credit report. Repped.

I always wondered that too. Like, do you purchases have to be officially billed to get the points or any dollar used gets you the points automatically?

As long as you make the purchase, you will get the points/cash back. No matter when you pay the balance down. Your balance can be $0 when your statement cuts and you will still get the cash back or points for the purchases you made during that statement period.

The statement just has to show that you made a purchase with the merchant. As long as you don't return it on the same billing cycle you will get the 5%.

Similar to what northoaklandfc northoaklandfc stated: Whenever the Amazon 5% CC comes, I usually just buy a large item to meet that $1500 max before the end of my cycle and then return it after my statement cuts.

And why wouldn't you pay your CC during the cycle? If you have a low limit and use you card for everything, chances are you'd max out halfway through the month. Pay it off and continue using it.

Can anybody offer tips or point in the right direction for dealing with COLLECTIONS. I want to pay it off asap, how does pay for deletion work?

Yeah I used this recently also. Thats why there is no reason for lexington law and all these credit repair companies. Its even easier to do it yourself now for free.

Good for sharing the info for those who didnt know

Anyone with a Discover IT card ever get a random CLI? Do they do any pulls? I've had it for 2 months and I didn't even request it. They just gave me a $2500 increase. I hope they didn't do any pulls because I'm in the process of getting financing.

They don't do hard pulls on auto CLI's. I've received 1 so far. Discover only does hard pulls if you allow them to when requesting a CLI.
