I was actually thinking about that earlier. There really ain't that many shoes from the mid 80's to early 90's that have been retro'd thatpeople haven't complained about. There always seems to be something wrong with them. Off the top of my head I can't think of one shoe that has beenretro'd from that era that everyone was pleased with and I'm talking about all Nike's not just Jordans. You always have people that hate on shoesno matter what they look like. "ohh the paint flaked off in 2.5wears". "The shape is off", "the shoe creased after 1 wear" andthe list goes on and on.

Good points, but for me, Nike Air is not what's the main problem. It's a problem sure, but the mold, the netting, is way off. Like Billy Hoyle said,it's fake inspired. At the very least if JB is going to re-retro these with the jumpman on the back, make it as closest to the original form as possible.And with these CD IV's, that's nowhere near the case.

Looks like I'll probably still be looking for a '99 pair. I really hope something changes. Probably won't happen though.

From that picture, it is hard to tell. But the shape is off. It starts at the toe where the first set of lace locks start. They are actually lower on the shoe, causing the front toward the toe to start at a wierd angle. From there, you can see where the stitching is almost touching the mid-sole. On the OG's and '99's it is much higher, creating the shape we like in this shoe. This actually pushes the top of the toe down and distorts the shape. From there, the top of the shoe near the ankle area is lower thatn the OG's and '99's. It is lower that the original shape of the 3/4 cut shoes from '88 and '89. This can be seen on the older shoes by seeing the distance from where the triangle straps are sewn into the upper. On the OG and '99 there is more space between the mid-sole and the trianle strap.
You can also see a difference in where the toe cap stops between the '08 retros and the '89 and OG. On the new retros the toe cap stops shorter than the older shoes.
Here are a few pics I have found that show some of the differences between the '06 Mars and the '99 White/cement and the OG Military and '06 retro military. From what I ahve seen, these '08 retros have the same shape as the 2004-2006 retros: (Hopefully Zach13g and Nice Kicks do not mind me posting their pics)
In the pic above you can actually see how much more room you have in the '99 IV's. Also, it is hard to tell here, but the angle of the triangle is off on the Mars IV.
In this pic, you can see the height difference and the difference of where the straps are sewn into the upper.
In this pic, you can see the height difference in the top of the shoe. The OG is higher than the retro.
In this picture you can see the height difference in where the bottom lace locks are on the OG compared to the '06 retro.
It's sad that JB would change the shape of such a great shoe. The OG and '99 retros and retro +'s are a great looking shoe. But all said, I am still glad to have been able to buy the '06 retros and would cop this '08 if given the chance. The '99's are getting up there and will only be a matter of time before they start to crumble due to age.
Who really gives a damn? I mean how can you compare the shapes of shoes that have been worn to one that hasn't first of all? With themilitary's the other shoe is almost 17 years older. Going in to how the shoes look from the back and how the upper is compared and wear the straps arelocated, give me a break. If you wear them with pants whos gonna notice anyway? All of this will not matter once you start to wear the shoes anyway becausethey will begin to take the shape of the person wearing them unless you're gonna be stupid and just buy them to stare.

You know that nike and JB don't reproduce anything the way it came out the previous time. AF1's and dunks shapes arent the same shape as they were in 1981-1982 compared to now. With all this complaining and "frustration" you're going to buy them anyway so go dry your eyes and grab your lawnchairs and get ready to get in line because you're going to regret it if you don't buy em.

So yeah, I knew that those pics would be the final released product. It's inevitable, word to agent smith, that Nike Air will never be on another AirJordan ever again. I've learned to accept that. But that doesn't mean I'll like it. Ever

But you guys don't understand, and you bash the rightful haters. I swear, all these youngins bashing the people who hate this shoe(thinking that it'sonly hate, and not seeing it us justifiable, understanding hate, hate with a reason), only adds more reason and fuel to the fire on why the older people hateon the youngins. That's likeyour stamp of approval. Again, no Nike Air, fine. But could we at least have these looking like the 99 IV's in any way shape, or form possible? Nope. Notthem. But you'll buy it cuz they are legit pair of Black Cement Air Jordan IV's, regardless on how they look or feel andwhy they designed them tolook/feel that way. Can we say sheep?
Let's put it this way: If an authentic Air Jordan was inspired by varient ideas, would that still make it authentic? Well that's what these IV'sare.
Plus, all these comments on "I am not forking 400+ on 99 IV's" THE CDP IV'S ARE 310 PLUS TAX!!!!! I think we can throw up cheapness out thewindow.

people who just want to buy the latest and newest thing out, (aka hypebeasts)
people wanting to buy so they can look good with their matching fit, newest and latest matching fit, already thinking what matching clothes to buy with theseshoes that's not even out yet, and already thinking about the WDYWT thread on about how they'll look, what kind of style to take a pic of themselves,and wondering what type of comments they'll receive( not a knock, but you can do that with DS 99 IV's, why all of a sudden with these IV's? Ohright, cuz it's the newest thing out and it's DS)

The shot over Ehlo. All the mastery of that season. And yet I have to take a double and sometimes triple take nowadays as-is to make sure someone is struttinw/ legitness.
These? Once fall hits...they could be wearing actual CDP IV's...but they could also be wearing authenticated variants. It'll be too tough to tell.
The problem with the shoe is two-fold...sure the shape is off and it's definitely comparable to what we saw on the Mars and Military IV...but the factthere's a $310 premium price of entry makes it that much more frustrating. I know everyone here on NT is BOC and only pulls dimes...but $300+ for ONE SHOEthat would retail for $125 is tough to pull the trigger on.
Don't go convincing yourself you like the XIX either.
