do you mask off anything else? does the dye affect anything else like the leather portion of the tongue or the rubber heel pull on the back?

I’ll give you an update probably tomorrow. I plan on masking the heel as well just to be safe.

Thanks! I just used bleach and a paint brush. I painted three coats to get the base but I let them air dry between each coat. I hand washed after drying the last coat to get the bleach off. It’s like a cream color which should work well with the dye.

thought about mixing rit neon green with just a hint of the dark green.

Yeah I’m going green too. I’m thinking olive green like the cactus jacks just debating if I want to do it with a brush or dye it with the ice and let it dry however it dries. Either way I’ll be posting pics soon. Can’t go wrong

dont use concentrated bleach. it will burn the fabric and the blue eventually comes back just a hint. yeah


black it is. cant risk green and having them be 8 different shades of green.

rit neon green and half a bottle of rit dark green dye.

dont overbleach. dont use concentrate. very light coats of bleach will do. let it dry fully before another coat. dont be too anxious.

rinse very well with warm water to get bleach out of shoes. or put in washer on cold in a bag or pillowcase. VERY IMPORTANT.

used cooked up baking soda to turn it to soda ash, gave a presoak before dye.

lil bit dishsoap and cup of salt in dye. boiling hot water mixed with hot tap is good. usually can get to about 150 degrees.

finish with the dye setter stuff.

dont bleach and put in sunlight or heat.

test the color on a pair of old jeans or something for like a minute before u dip the shoes. gives a basic idea of color.

biggest advice:
dont overbleach or use concentrate. be patient.

i bleached my pair first, then used black angelus suede dye. but it turned my shoes straight purple. im waiting on my gac-900 to come in this week

rit liquid dye is fine.

or procion if you really wanna go all out.

but soda ash, washing out all the bleach and not over doing the bleach are important.

and idk how important but the dye setting rit stuff, i used it
