A few theories;

Good guy jb - Jordan Brand hates to see us struggle to get our shoes with all the hype train, so they raise the price so the kids won't have enough $$$ to buy the things we want, and when the hype dies down so will the price.

Troll jb - Realized ninjas would buy his shoes no matter how high he raised the price. So he raises the price.

It's all about the demand of Jordan's. I wouldn't be surprised if the VIII's cost $170 next year also...smh. The more hype for Jordan's= the more you will pay for each pair.
