Anyone Else Not Give a **** About the Troops?

The profession is clearly deserving of the utmost respect. However, much like with law enforcement, this is often turned into immunity from criticism for those in that profession. If a service member does something wrong, they should be treated no different than a regular person doing something wrong. Provided there's not something like PTSD behind it of course.

An excellent example of that is currently playing out in court. Michael Flynn, a 3-star general, pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI and covertly working "on behalf of elements within the Turkish government" during his time as the national security adviser on a presidential campaign. He then sabotaged a prosecution he was supposed to cooperate in. He is demanding special treatment in the form of lesser sentencing because of his past military service.

If anything, military service members and law enforcement should face extra criticism compared to regular people if they do something wrong, after all they swore to uphold a higher standard. Likewise, if a crime was committed they should face a more severe punishment, not the other way around.

Im saying, culture, and the streets took these fatigues and camo from soldiers as something fashionable. Can't front, camo, especially olive/brown/dark green looks good.

Veterans who look at civilians wearing camo like its cool to wear will be like there was a good reason we put them on. But these days its not serious.

I read somewhere if you see a vet that’s had his arm or leg blown off, you should make a joke about it b/c those dudes are tired of people tiptoeing around it

“damn, I know you got the most field goals kicked in army history” or some **** like that to a dude in a wheelchai. Humanize them

is that true?

That sounds like a good way to start a fight. You can’t be serious.

Never a good idea to joke about a stranger’s disability. That being said, many disabled people wish to be treated like a regular person instead of constant pity.

Wounded warriors have the sickest sense of humor

Vets in general who have seen combat have a sick sense of humor.

So yeah if you find yourself socializing with some its cool to crack jokes.

I was in a comedy club and some vets were there and jokes started cracking about homey in the wheelchair pleasing the next dude's girl with his nub :smh:

Of course this is all from my experiences and what I've seen of vets. Don't go making fun of the handicapped thinking it's the go to move.

I was just gone let him crack the joke and wait for the response back here.

sad but true, every minority I know joined because they didn't have options. they were never very good in school and were attracted to benefits the military offered.
I was one of those people... My first day of college was on 9/11... I went to bmcc which is two blocks away from ground zero... On oct 11 I was raising my hand to serve my country and get the hell out of NYC for a few years. Outside of my avatar here, you would never know I was in... I don't collect any Va benefits , I did like 3 and a half years of college for free and i got free platinum status at Caesars for being a Vet. Once in a while ill be that guy randomly asking for a discount at theme parks and such but when u got a family of 5 that 15 percent discount is nice...

Get that USAA. My dad puts everybody's car on their insurance and the price barely moves. Also Jordan's for 20% off retail and no tax at the px

I'm extremely ignorant about this, but I always wondered what exactly is our military keeping us safe from? I guess the argument is having the military makes sure no other nation can invade us? Aren't we the ones going into other countries causing a ruckus.

Once again I'm extremely ignorant about this and questioning the military is a big no no

SOmeone answer.

My boy and I had this conversation like 7 years ago and he sounded just like youngwolf youngwolf

In general, I don’t give a **** about the troops either. Every person I knowthat joined the military did so because they felt they had no other option. Did poorly in school, needed money, etc. It wasn’t because they felt this patriotic urge to protect my freedom. Matter fact, same goes for the cops and firefighters I know. I’m not judging their decision; it’s a honorable way to make a living. But don’t expect me to treat you like captain America. Just another job like my uber driver, the IT guy at my job, the cable guy etc.

However, there are those stories when someone gives up a comfortable life to join the military because they felt a sense of duty and those people I have a tremendous amount of respect for. Not enough to take my hat off, put my beer down, or stand up at a sporting event but enough to give them a knowing head nod as I sip my drink.

Just be glad there are people who still want to sign up and those that don't want to serve don't have to. Glad this country doesn't draft anymore.
