Asian Culture Discussion Thread

Yup, I love halfers.

But, I realize that a lot of them are skin deep. Some of who I encountered who only think they are only white. Jeeez, their characteristics are just yuck. I was always much more compatible with my white ex girlfriends.

I think it comes with maturity as I grow older, you really get picky on the intangible traits of a woman.
The half pinay chick at my job has the personality of a white person. So my filipino radar detector was broken with her

I swear my phone is listening to me. I'm talking about mixed pinays and a tiktok about mixed pinays shows up on my feed without me looking for it :lol

No one watched espn's Bruce Lee documentary tonight did they? :smh: :smh: :smh:

That's ok. Neither did I

seeing that they got an Asian person to be director makes me even more interested in watching it. idk if yall agree or not, but something about seeing folks who look like you do things like this just hit different. personally, as a viewer, i'm more invested in it.

my boys and I do a podcast from time to time and we'll be talking about this idea of "rooting for your own." A few years back, Issa Rae said "I'm rooting for everybody black," which I think is dope. From a subjective and anecdotal perspective, I know why I root for Southeast Asians, Asians, BIPOC, etc. depending on the context but form a neurological standpoint, I want to know why my brain is wired that way. If you have any articles or studies, please feel free to share.

hope yall brothers are doin well. as I told computersputin computersputin in a PM, i've spent the last couple of days in solidarity out in the streets. it's been necessary for my spirit but perhaps bad for my physical health. i wouldn't be surprised if covid rates climb in the next two weeks.

Yup, I root for pretty much every Asian or mixed Asian (if they rep the Asian side) in the West, especially in fields where Asians aren’t common. I think it’s very important to grow up and see positive representation of someone that looks like similar to you ethnically. I’m sure a lot of black people and Latinos feel the same about rooting for themselves.

Watched it and enjoyed it but as big Bruce Lee fan growing up, there’s nothing in it I didn’t already know. However I like the perspective it took about focusing a lot on the discrimination he faced and that Asians took in general in America.

There's this whole YouTube acct dedicated to the concept of half asians

The Halfie Project

I don't really watch but the concept of it is pretty interesting

My dad was a big Bruce Lee fan so I'm quite familiar with his story.

It's crazy that they passed on Bruce Lee for the kung fu series for a white man

Haven’t watched the Bruce lee cause I don’t got ESPN. Also haven’t watched the lance dance so it’s all good. Hopefully that comes on netflix
