Asian Culture Discussion Thread

Followup: arrested.
Kid’s full identity, pictures and social media were posted earlier this week. Couldn’t relay news and allegations before arrest since minor. Little stuff needs a reality check and lesson in Humanity. Repeat offender.

"According to court documents, the couple was walking home when the suspect, who was with three other people, deliberately bumped into the man and fell over while trying to sweep the man's leg.

The suspect then started punching the man when the man tried to help him up, according to court documents. The man suffered a broken rib during the attack."

The problem with this is that a lot of people really aren’t mentally equipped to safely carry around a firearm.

People are gonna be pulling guns on each other over parking spots and cutting in lines, not just using guns for self defense.

All of this keeps getting uglier....

Took how many years. Legitimate concern.
Stop the Virtue Signaling and Gaslighting.

So now the question becomes how much do people want music censorship?

Or is this just a selective thing? Where people are only offended when they feel like it

For example Eminem is 100 times more famous than YG will ever be so does this lyric have to come down as well or is nobody upset about this lyric from Eminem’s “Bad Meets Evil”:

Why does YG get taken down and not Eminem? Eminem has said wildly offensive things about literally every group of people but after 2002 or so, nobody has really said much about it.

Good point that any censorship is a slippery slope. Bet most people don’t even realize those words are part of the song. It’s interesting you brought up Eminem cause of recent news Millennials and Gen Z going at each other over his fan support.
Don’t care for the line in song. Eminem should be called to task for the stereotype. But don’t believe rises to same offense as YG’s song.
Those words are a pure call for targeted violent crime. Song has an established effect within popular culture. That can not be excused or compared.

White privilege

I imagine it has to do with the fan base. YG has a much younger fan base who spend more time on social media and engaging politically on social media. Wait until they discover “Black Korea” by Ice Cube.

Yeah, no. you just tried to imply that Eminem’s catalogue doesn’t have the same impact as YG’s. That screams “I have no idea what I’m talking about” lol. YG may be more popular today, but Eminem was a phenomenon that we probably won’t see again for quite some time. People know his songs word for word.

There have been multiple times in this thread and countless other times in real life where I’ve heard people say how they are offended by racist things said about their eyes.

Eminem’s line normalizes a racist idea.

You can’t allow some racism and condemn other racism.

You're either against racism or you aren’t. There is no in between. Which ironically ties to the idea of you can’t be anti-black and pro Asian at the same time....

When you get into trying to define degrees of racism (or championing some racial causes while denying others) you create an environment for racism to flourish.

So the distinction you made about YG’s being worse... not gonna fly.

Gee here I thought you were actually asking a sincere question about opinion on issue. Actually agreed censorship a slippery slope. Guess we go back to detente.

Stop telling Asian people how to react to Asian racism and hate crimes. For all your multi paragraphs of lecture and repeated slogans, words ring hollow. Never seen you react, reply, condemn any specific single act of racism and hate crime news posted. And I’ve seen numerous other non Asians do so.

Your virtue signaling and gaslighting is getting tiresome.
Wouldn’t shed a tear if both songs disappeared.
Maybe I care more about actual call for violent crime.
Back to ignore.

You’re completely missing the point.

Nobody is telling anybody how to react. I posed some questions. Questions that you validated (even though I don’t need your validation) until I also pointed out the fact that your alleged disgust with racism doesn’t apply to all racism.

Guess what Wuchi- you don’t get to determine what racism is acceptable. You are the arbiter of nothing.

Just because I highlighted the fact that you would rather be selective with what racism is acceptable and what racism isn’t doesn’t reflect poorly on anybody but you.

You’re really full of it if you want to condemn some racism and allow other racism to flourish. THATS COMPLETE BS on your end!

you can’t play both sides of the fence and expect for nobody to say anything.

Be serious for once and not intentionally obtuse and unwilling to see beyond yourself!

Racism is racism is racism and if you want to separate what Eminem rapped about from what YG rapped about then the problem is actually you.

Both have to be taken equally as seriously if racism is what you’re taking issue with.
