Basketball Thread About Nothing

They called Steph for a couple travels in this Mavs/Warriors game tonight, including one with 15 seconds left. Can't wait to see all the rulebook checking igs talking about how it wasn't a travel really

🤔 neither stepback was a travel tho...it looks like the walk was called because he picked up the wrong pivot both times

they were both travels. Yada yada yes players do it all the time but its a good call. And yes MDWBasketball is going to do a video talking about 0 steps, gather steps, presteps, post steps, half steps, and ****

Lukas across the lane wasn’t. Not sure about Lukas on the sideline. The rest were correct.

Never thought I’d see the day dudes discussing basketball and not know what a travel is

Blame all these dumb social media accounts trying to give all of these extra steps names and arguing how it's legal just for "engagement" :smh:

I remember when LeBron first started doing the crab dribble and everybody agreed it was a travel. If he would've started it today, half of these people online would argue with you how 3 steps are legal somehow.

206to813 206to813 So watching this then watching curry and you are gonna say one is legal and the other is a travel….
My dude you still need to learn what a step thru is

I watched those travel calls, a lot of moving pivots before releasing. Some very minor, some more clear. Yea the Luka across the lane was not a travel, the final one on Steph was not a travel. The 35 second left one on Steph looked like he moved his pivot slightly

edit hold up I’m wrong, last one was a travel

I thought his right foot was his pivot. Meaning he could pick up his left as many times as he wanted. I guess his left was his pivot though, it was too close to tell imo

I had to educate the gym the other day that catching your own airball is only illegal in the nba😂 , legal everywhere else

Another guy knew. Wild stuff

The question still remained- is pickup games nba rules or not. I told em I’m not getting no nba checks. This gym don’t look nba to me. So it’s legal IMO. But should’ve been ball up top , no basket

Oh damn, I've always played catching your own airballs as basically a travel. Never heard or seen anyone ever even argue that call.

This is accurate, catching your air ball is called 100% of the time in a pickup game and yet it happens all the time in HS and college.

I will always admit when I’m wrong and I am clearly wrong. When I quoted the curry clip admittedly I didn’t watch it closely. Curry did lift his pivot foot twice before shooting.

Catching your own airball in pickup is never acceptable though. Best case scenario we’ll argue about it for 10 minutes and yall can retain possession ball up top and we get the next one or shoot for it

"Curry (GSW) gathers the ball on his right foot and steps back with his left foot coming down and then his right foot. This establishes his left foot as his pivot foot. Curry proceeds to lift and replant his left pivot foot during his pump fake."
