big sean featuring kendrick lamar and jay electronica "no i.d" freestyle

Cole moving his album up to Kanye's date was a total PR move for people to keep talking about his album, it's all business. His outselling Kanye was a matter of A) Kanye's less-than-normal promotion for his album & 2) Cole's crossover appeal with women and pop radio

I really don't mean to knock Cole, but Cole apologists are pretty funny w/ their theories sometimes

and Jay Electronica's not putting out a lot of music has nothing to do with the fact that when he spits, he sounds like he was born to rap. Age don't matter either, just gimme a collection of 10-15 songs and I'm good

The rap game/hip-hop culture needed this. As others have stated, this wasn't a diss but a wake up call. Hopefully this will light a fire under some of these rappers ***'s and some good/real music will follow.

Kendrick>>>> any rapper dead or alive, and my opinion is not based just from this verse.

I never rocked with Big Sean, and what made this ***** wanna rhyme alongside K Dot, and Jay Elec?

I just can't get down with Big Sean, I just don't see/get it in him. Kendrick did his thing as usual and then I cut it off on that Jay Electronica guy. But I don't think this will "awaken" hip hop. It's in a diff stage now where it's all about the production and catchiness.

at people thinking that verse is gonna make all those named rappers "better" rappers

my takeaway from this track is:

1. Big Sean is not a good rapper and is inconsequential within the current rap landscape. Definition of vanilla.

2. Kendrick is a beast and is clearly the future. He is well-rounded enough to become a mega star in rap but the crossover appeal someone like Drake has is still not 100% there. Kendrick is a far better rapper than Drake could ever be, though.

3. Jay Electronica has the gift of presence on a track the likes of which just doesn't come around anymore. The rap world needs more Jay Elec music because he can change the game more so than even Kendrick, IMO.
QFT. I really hope him dropping these guest verses is a build up to the album coming out

Whether this is true or not, I'm not sure how you came to that conclusion on this track :lol This is another cause of 'it's not what you say, it's how you say it'. KL not only said something, but he said it with conviction. Jay Elec said something, but said it while downing 2 bottles of Nyquil.

:lol Cole moving his date up to challenge Kanye. It was to piggy back record sales.

Even if that's the case, it worked out very well for J.Cole

:rollin

Freck emotional...now who is gonna defend this dude?

Scroll up a couple posts, various people are defending his hurt :lol :lol

People that say it was just "name dropping" are the se ones supporting all this trash these days.

Hip hop has always been competitive.

It's soft now and I'm glad Kendrick is trying to change that. All this Buddy buddy **** has to stop. ****** need to step their game up. Everybody is way to comfortable. Hopefully this **** helps to change that.

Dudes talking bout Cole piggy backed for sales but he ended up with the far superior product, and still  ended up outselling Ye.

Ya'll swear Kendrick name drops like the Game :lol He did to get his point across that he's still cool with them, but he coming for that crown.

And Rell, how did Cole piggyback album sales? :lol he outsold Yeezus by week 2. If it was so commonplace for up and coming artists to drop on the same date as established stars then it'd happen much more often. Even reading this board people said he was stupid, not gonna sell etc. not to mention his album was significantly better than kanyes. Most people push their albums back not up to compete an established star in the same genre. :lol piggybacking sales smh

cole knew kanye was dropping an experimental album for one

they were selling 2 completely dif products damn near

Big sean got bars but when someone better than him is on the same track he gets over looked at times. Just IMO..

You cant say he didnt BODY "All Me"

Could those be factors?  Sure.

But ultimately those are excuses for that flaming pile of garbage called Yeezus.  Let's be real--if 'Ye dropped an album on par with most of his other work, it would've sold better.  In this day and age of bootlegging and album leaks, a lot of people weren't going to $upport that album after sampling it on the internets.  Why?  Because that **** is garbage.

Cole's appeal with pop radio?

Work Out Plan?

You act like J Cole is Drake. He only sold like 600 first time.

Before rap music was like blockbuster movies and you cleared out the calendar for a monster release not try to compete with it. The labels would force you, even if you wanted to.
