He may be right...but didn't the OP place all the blame on the Black community anyway?Originally Posted by ericberry14

He's partially correct with his statement. But i wouldnt say that its the majority of the problem; there is no majority. Its all equally contributing to the problem, but it all starts with education

well i remember either him or kix4kix... saying that we essentialy need to create an all black society within the society we already exist in...& just think that's unrealistic, divisive, & will lead to more problems between races in this country. I wholeheartedly agree wit the notion thatwe as black people need to start being more entrepreneurial & should cater specifically towards fellow black people...Originally Posted by TkTheGirl

Oh Ok.
I acknowledge the need to have african american's understand that the time has come for their roles in society to be taken further than ever. But on a worldly scale, is trying to play "one up" on other races what everyone really needs? Ought we not to be focused on what's best for man kind as a whole opposed to what's best for an individual people?

I read the initial post.
Response in the Black Enlightenment thread from an intelligent "white" NT'er
http://Rexanglorum.u.yuku.comRexanglorum:
Thanks for making this post because African history is so rarely talked about and when it is the material of discussion are based on glib stereotypes, snippets from the news, charity concerts, quasi mythology about ancient Africans or antiquated historical accounts either written or tainted by white supremacy.
http://Rexanglorum.u.yuku.comRexanglorum:
That is a good point haze and I what you said made me realize something I had not really thought of before. The fact that some whites from academia; some whites on the left; some whites who use racial issue for the sake of moral self aggrandizement (as opposed to genuine concern for others); some whites who are just arrogant and insufferable are the most vigorous and at times over zealous to mention white transgressions is something that politicizes racial discussions and makes it a cultural issue.
That is a shame because once something becomes a "culture war issue" rational discussion goes out the window. When a political issue is also a cultural issue you have money at stake and more importantly, identities at stake. People can eventually budget over money, it very rare for People to give ground on issue where your identity is at stake. If the left is going to be blame the white man for everything then the right feels it must respond in kind by erasing all of the bad affects that whites have had on non whites. This is a one of the paerils of binary politics where true is determined by identity to one's faction instead of facts and reason.
It seems like you and I are able to talk about these things, have opinions, perhaps change each others opinions, if perhaps only around the edges. Others in this discussion, however, will not budget either way, their stance on affirmative action, reperations and other issues of race is immutable, they almost would not exist without having that particular opinion.
