Boardwalk Empire Season 3 Thread - "Margate Sands" SEASON FINALE

That scene when Gillian sticks the heroine in dude

.  Not gonna lie, I didn't think she was gonna kill him, I just thought she wanted to take care of him like she did with Jimmy, especially after his story of defending the girl.

@ Margaret, once again she blames Nucky and doesn't think about how she cheated first...

this was a great episode IMO. That guy (Paul, i think is his name) that had Harrow and Tommy for dinner was hilarious. it was cool to see the family element in the different characters homes. Gyp is a super d-bag robbing a church. the scene where Buscemi juggles was awesome too. Gillian is probably the most evil person in the series.

Chick is on bird status.

Had her first husband murked, cheated first, and wrote off all that money to the church.

To expand on her bird resume

-Gives up the yambs at like 16
-Gets preggers
-Going to be sent away so steals the money meant for her brother to go to America and goes instead
-Wants to upgrade to Nucky from day one
-Gives up the box to Nucky after homeboy just knocks at her door in the middle of the night
-Doesn't give a damb bout her husband being killed. Don't she had him killed if I remember, but it didn't seem like she cared much
-Was ready and willing to let the doctor go balls deep

Emily is played by twins?
They're all played by twins, her, Teddy, Tommy Darmody.
Common practice in the biz to get around child labor laws.
not sure if trolling or reluctant to accept that my mind is blown
Check IMDB, twins for all three characters.

Shooting anything, be it TV or movie is more waiting than actual film rolling, and you can only have kids as young as these on set for only a few hours, so they get twins to double their time.

I hope when I have a kid he grows up to be tommy darmody.

Good to know Wisconsin and Michigan avenue aren't the same thing. :p

So Gillian is going to use roger's body as a double for Jimmy?
I'm confused with that part.
How can you declare someone dead without a body?

It's the 1920s, get a similar body, rock the dogtags, and get a few people to identify it, and boom, Gillian now owns the house and can now get credit for a loan.

Margaret had her first husband murdered??? U sure about that?
Watch season 1 again.

She knew Nucky was going to "handle" dude and she damn sure wasn't tripping when he died.

She just played it off like she didn't care to ask any questions. I don't think she knew he'd die, but she wasn't trying to protect him either.

@ Eli's wife side stepping Marge's reveal when she tried to trash Nucky after he got all that praise. She was looking for some confidant to join in on the hate but I notice she doesn't even mention the behind back **** she's done like cheating as well.

I don't think she was side-stepping, Margaret knew Eli's wife wouldn't be able to say anything to comfort her or give her advice, it's the 1920s... there's a sense of propriety and that isn't any of her business. She didn't tell her to shut up and storm out of the room, she listened, then changed the subject. All she could really do.

It's really common, kid can only work so many hours a day so it's a logical thing to do.

I mean, i guess she'd show some remorse throughout the seasons (really not necessary for them to do that though) but she certainly did not know they were gonna kill the father of her children. I'd go as far as saying the opposite; she wanted him roughed up and taught a lesson. she also blamed it on his alcoholism an nucky at that time wanted the women to vote for him so he charmed her into running with him through his prohibition campaigns

Yup. She got some nerve playing the victim cuz Nucky got a mistress. Looks like Nucky is starting to feel guilty to. That whole build up to Gillian killing variant Jimmy was just weird.

Rosetti dodged another bullet :hat

This might be my favorite episode the show has done... and easily one of the best.

They covered Gyp, Nucky and Eli, Richard, Gillian, and not only explained deeper elements of their story and character, but provided a glimpse for the future for each one. It reminded me so much of what The Sopranos did so well.

Gyp's story was perfect.

- It starts with him meticulously brushing his suit, only to be interrupted by the women of his family. So we see how Gyp is criticized at home and that might put him on edge and gives him something to prove. Then, we get to see him in the church and that point is really brought home. His speech about God placing things in front of him, that he can almost touch, only to take it away. "I'm a mistake you made?!?" Gyp is certainly crazy, but we see where his anger comes from, feelings of inadequacy and low self-worth. And finally, Gyp sits down with Masseria and basically spells out exactly what is going to happen. Luciano is a new breed of mobster and unless Masseria lets Gyp take them on, he's going down. "They're building something that doesn't include us".. From beginning to end I loved how they handled his story.

Nucky and Eli

- It's really interesting because while Eli did Nucky wrong, he was spared and whether or not Nucky wants it.. a chance for redemption. Eli showed his worth and saw the ambush coming, he's more valuable than Nucky gave him credit for.. and now he'll get his chance. Nucky had some great lines and moments in that conversation "You think I'm bottomless... and still you call yourself my brother?"

Nucky and Margaret

- Obviously their relationship is on the rocks and perhaps past the point of no return, but the episode showed there's still some  possibility for them to reconcile, if only for a moment. Nucky did his juggling act, Margaret sang, and they each saw something in one another that reminded them of the better times. And while that was done brilliantly, we get the reminded in the end that despite all of that... things won't change. Nucky offers to show her how to juggle, and she simply says "It's too late, I'm sorry". Too late to juggle, too late to fix their problems

Richard put himself out there and make a connection with a woman. One of his best episodes as well. She took special considerations for his difficulty eating and went along with him after her dad freaked out. Plus Richard got a great line in "Let him go or I'll kill you", and was completely believable in that line.

Gillian finally admitted Jimmy was dead. At first I didn't care too much about this fake Jimmy (and Gillian probably didn't either), but right before it happened I really did feel for him. He was a decent guy, only fault was he looked too much like Jimmy. It will be interesting to see what happens next for her now that she'll be able to declare him dead officially.

All in all, fantastic episode.

Also, Tommy reminds me of Spanky from the 1994 Little Rascals.

He will now be referred to as Spanky in my home.

Good ol' Spanky.

Yall stretching this part. She didn't know Nucky was gonna kill him, at best get him messed up. Not kill. She didn't know that. Also, so what? If you guys recall he was beating her up after knocking her up daily cuz he was an angry drunk. Pretty sure she lost the child cuz of dude.

Nucky just didn't up and decide to have him killed cuz he wanted to smash.
:lol @ Eli's wife side stepping Marge's reveal when she tried to trash Nucky after he got all that praise. She was looking for some confidant to join in on the hate but I notice she doesn't even mention the behind back **** she's done like cheating as well.

Nah, I kinda feel had she told this to her neighbor that wants to give up the yambs to Owen, she'd give her some kind of advice or at least talk about it. I don't think Marge brought it up knowing she couldn't say anything, she may have expected it but I don't think she was just throwing it out there just to do it. I feel she immediately changed the subject to cake.
