my boy has this same exact hair situation and refuses to shave it bald no matter how many people tell him it'll look better. And he's a fat dude so it looks even worse bc he just looks like someone who doesn't care about his appearance at all. The craziest thing is dude can grow a full beard and still won't do it

In short i think they care more about having money than looking like they have money. Black people were forced to be poor for so long that many of us want to look the part of being well to do. It's a lot more to be said about it though but I'm not trying to derail the thread.
