Bulls offseason Thread

I can't call our bench overrated if we never used them properly or gave them a chance to go thru the ups and downs.

This whole "if you don't play defense, you gets no burn" mentality needs to go. We drafted Doug at #11, clearly we knew he wasn't a defensive specialist. Instead of giving him a chance to go thru the learning curve after he came back from injury, we bury him on the bench.

We go thru 5 min offensive droughts and Thibs doesn't even look down the bench to bring in one of our offensive minded players like Snell, Doug, Brooks, hell even Moore until it's finally too late.

His stubbornness is wearing on us as a whole. We really need to bring an offensive minded coach in if we plan on keeping him.

Not buying the Hoiberg is D'antoni comparison either, that's just lazy typing

I never wanted doug to begin with he is a project on the nba level lets not forget to start the season he was getting more time than snell and looked completely lost on both sides, there no realistic belief if you thought doug was gonna contribute this year even as the 11th pick thats just being too optimistic.

Brooks again got in the game and stunk it up during the playoffs he seemed more focused on talking trash and being ineffective he had chances and was not focused at all.

Snell is the only one who I agree should got more of a chance but again as soon as he checked in Jr would start going off.

Those droughts hurt but guess what hurt worse most the games we lost cuz of bad defense. were talking 5 point or less games where the cavs killed us on open 3 pointers. Lebron and kyrie struggling and we let role players go to work on us. So how can anyone cosign if you dont play defense you get to play. Its the nba even mediocre players can hit open 3s, we made there bench players look like stars but youre saying put in a bulls bench who even worse on defense and shaky on offense to save us.

Then lets not forget when thibs did give the bench time and lebron hits a game winner, here are the FGs taj 2-7 niko 1-9 snell 3-7 brook 1-2 and add in dunleavy as a starter 1-7

sorry again seems like were ignoring things to throw it all on thibs, give him some blame he far from perfect but cant ignore reality of personnel either

To me, it sounds like your whole argument is based on what happened vs the Cavs.

I'm talking about the entire season.

Thibs never gave our bench a chance to become the Bench Mob 2.0, he relied on our starters way too much, even with big leads and injuries. You can't just throw them in the fire in the playoffs and expect them to consistently produce results when needed. Our bench had no confidence throughout the season outside of Niko and Brooks. The personnel was in place, it just wasn't used properly which again falls on Thibs.

Doug is a shooter, you mean to tell me we couldn't put him in a position to do what he does best? Of course he's going to look lost at times, he's a rookie playing for a defensive minded coach, I didn't expect him to come in and average 20 PPG but I did expect to see him put in places where he could utilize his shooting skill set.

You give this same exact team to a more balanced coach and we wash the Cavs.

If you ask me, the players started tuning Thibs out a while ago. You can tell his message is wearing on the team. He has to adjust his style and bring in an offensive minded assistant or we will continue to underachieve.

I love Thibs, I hope we keep him, but he's gotta get with the program at this point. No reason we shouldn't have been in the ECF, none.

We had a pretty good offensive minded assistant coach, but the Bulls fired him for speaking out

Then the Warriors hired him and look at the Warriors now? -_-

ALL OF THIS!!!!

and noah pissed me off all playoffs but also remember he hasn't been healthy all year, pretty sure he should be getting surgery this offseason

I understand that Noah was hurt this yr, but it doesn't explain him being so scared to shoot that he'd forget how much time is on the shot clock. Passing up every open 15 footer. Trying to play point guard. Trying to tip the ball towards the rim instead of just securing the rebound. Not being able to box out. ECT.

Cosign to the fullest!

Quick question......Why is it a big deal when steph brings his daughter out, but when our boy drose did it nobody cared. I feel the Nba is pushing steph and his perfect innocent imagine pretty hard. What do you guys think?? Maybe im still salty we are out lol
NBA trying to market Steph right now.

Do you guys even know what you're talking about? Ron Adams is a defensive specialist. Gentry is behind Golden State's offense.

In my opinion, noah needs to go. While his defense has been good over the years, his offense did not improve at all.
Instead he just still trashtalks with LeBron And hates Cleveland. Dude needs to focus his energy on the game.

THIBS GONE.........about time

management is still too conservative, but a good coach can get us over past the cavs in the east.

Chicago Bulls General Manager Gar Forman announced today that Tom Thibodeau will not be retained as the team’s head coach.

Chicago Bulls Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf said, “The Chicago Bulls have a history of achieving great success on and off the court. These accomplishments have been possible because of an organizational culture where input from all parts of the organization has been welcomed and valued, there has been a willingness to participate in a free flow of information, and there have been clear and consistent goals. While the head of each department of the organization must be free to make final decisions regarding his department, there must be free and open interdepartmental discussion and consideration of everyone's ideas and opinions. These internal discussions must not be considered an invasion of turf, and must remain private. Teams that consistently perform at the highest levels are able to come together and be unified across the organization-staff, players, coaches, management and ownership. When everyone is on the same page, trust develops and teams can grow and succeed together. Unfortunately, there has been a departure from this culture. To ensure that the Chicago Bulls can continue to grow and succeed, we have decided that a change in the head coaching position is required. Days like today are difficult, but necessary for us to achieve our goals and fulfill our commitments to our fans. I appreciate the contributions that Tom Thibodeau made to the Bulls organization. I have always respected his love of the game and wish him well in the future.”

Following 21 years in the NBA as an assistant coach (he was an advance scout in 1991-92), Chicago named Thibodeau the team’s head coach on June 23, 2010. During his five seasons at the helm of the Bulls, Thibodeau’s teams compiled an overall record of 255-139 (.647). The Bulls advanced to the playoffs five times during Thibodeau’s tenure, where he posted a postseason record of 23-28 (.451).

"When Tom was hired in 2010, he was right for our team and system at that time, and over the last five years we have had some success with Tom as our head coach,” said Chicago Bulls General Manager Gar Forman. “But as we looked ahead and evaluated how we as a team and an organization could continue to grow and improve, we believed a change in approach was needed."

This the **** people don't like bout the Bulls FO what jerry said was unnecessary,he was a great coach and on the way out you take shot? And we wonder why people don't want to come here unless it's a huge payday or they damn near out the league.

Saw this mentioned in the off season thread earlier today and it got glanced over, I'm curious to see what you guys think about it.

i've said for a long time in this thread that thibs isn't a championship head coach. playing in the east covers up a lot of his mistakes in the regular season. im sure players knew they could have beat the cavs, but thibs gameplan was not allowing it.

The thing that I hate - and it's only coming to light now - was that Doug Collins was interested in coming on as the assistant coach - sort of the Al Gentry to his Steve Kerr -

Doug and Thibs had a talk over dinner about it. And Thibs didn't even let the FO know that Doug was interested.

That's just crossing the line a bit for Thibs..

It was time for a change, we underachieved this season.

Like I said last week, if we got past the Cavs in round #2 then his job was safe. I don't agree with our FO 99.9% of the time, but you gotta look at it from their POV, if you can't get past Lebron without Love or Kyrie then you're never going to make it out the East.

I'd rather take a stab at Alvin Gentry

See if he can take whatever he learned at GS over here...

And try to get a solid defensive coach as an assistant as well

I think Thib was just getting bitter. The players didn't want to be apart of that bitterness between FO and Thibs.

sucks.
