Can i get on a plane with $9,000 cash?

You should be fine. I just wouldnt make it look like you are trying to conceal it. I regularly have my bag opened and checked but thats probably because Icarry my contact solution in it and they always check any liquids. Also Im not sure if they could see the money when it goes through the scanner anyways. Ialso have to go through special screening quite often because I usually book my flights with short notice but if they do special screening they go through yourbag and pat you down and at certain airports where where they have that body scanner they make you take EVERYTHING out of your pockets, but regardless even ifthey dont do that they are going to feel the stack if you do happen to get selected for special screening.

Why would you carry cash like that to go vacation in the states? Just take a debit card or something otherwise your asking to get it stolen. It's not likeyour outside the country somewhere where they don't accept cards in most places.

Simple as that Me and my family do it every time we travel.

And to show you how much of a joke security is, (2002, year after 9/11) I (an Arab) bought a few BB guns in through airport security by taping them to my leg and went through all security with no problems.

You know they could've hit you with a $10,000 fine, criminal charges, and jail time if they caught you right? I hope the feeling of pulling one over on them was worth it, because that is one of the dumbest things I've heard. Matter fact I'm going to call ducktales

I agree. That's pretty much the most foolish storyI've heard all week and I've been babysitting two 5 year olds this week...

honestly though I get on plane all the time with ATLEAST a million, wouldn't even touch down in vegas without 100G's in the 4 pockets. Just sayin

From what i heard, NEVER put lots of cash in your LUGGAGE. I have a Tumi book bag that i keep my laptop in, i could just use that right? Just put rubberbands around the money and throw it in my Tumi with my papers, and food.

And

at MidEastBeast. I could NEVER do anything like that.

When I bought my laptop they did NOT open the laptop bag, just slid it through the regular machine. But It's kinda risky IMO. Put the charger, CD's, papers, manuals and whatever else you can inside on top of the money. If you decide to do that.
Don't listen to him. Just put it in your bag regularly , chances are they won't even say anything about it because it wouldn't look suspicious. Just make sure you DO NOT have anything that would make them look in your liquids, gels, BB guns, or anything. Matter fact just get a duffel bag and have only your clothes and the $ inside of it.

if you own a foodsaver machine.... then vacuum seal $10,000 in 100 dollar bills and it will look flatter than a pancake. literally.
maybe the depth of a cd case. so you can easily get $40k if you need to, or if you got big jeans, then you good.

but security won't let you walk through with a coat on and you def don't EVER want to put anything even on your walk on luggage. EVER.

I would really do travelers checks...... Much safer and easier to get you money back if someone steals it or it gets lost anyway........

Make sure you take it as your carry-on. Don't put it in your luggage because they look through it and more than likely your money will not be boarding theplane with you.

So you dont wanna put it IN your carry-on?

And for those who are saying travelers check and etc, i really want the convenience of holding the cash...

you can carry as much as you want, just make sure they don't call a bag check or you're screwed. The best way to avoid that happenstanceis to put it in a bag with only clothes in it. Nothing else at all.

at some of these responses...

1) its not that serious-
2) i havent traveled out of the country in my adult life but im almost positive that 10k declaring thing only goes for international flights...
3) its 9k...your going to vegas...again its not that serious-
4) if your THAT worried get a couple of those american express travelers checks - cash em at the casino as you go-
5) once again 9k is 100s is not a spectacular sight thats gonna cause any problems

have fun and be safe- hopefully you come back with more than 9k - awhile back i had silly student limits on my bank account so my weekends in miami were str8cash...and i never had an issue

Ben I'm only bringing $20.00 usd down there so make sure you seal up like 25k ...

that whole under 10k thing is only applicable to overseas travel. u could carry 45k cash on u if you wanted, as long as its just a domestic flight. but if iwere you, i'd prolly open a checking account and get a debit card, so i didnt happen to just drop or be worried about 9 stacks the whole day.

Nice to see Ben coming out with the ILL story. I just got back from vegas, won 15k. Only has 12k on me but no problem.

Continental US is $20,000 i believe.

International <$10,000. My 21 year old friend came back with china with 90k. He was detained for 24 hours and they kept the cake. (Cargill $)
