#*%@ Chip Kelly.

bottom of the divison again for Tampa

Assistant head coach/offensive line coach Steve Greatwood is joining him in Tampa. I guess as an O-Line Coach? Not sure yet on the specifics.

It's not ideal, but why is this a deathblow to Oregon? Seems like barring an actual NCAA investigation with consequences that Phil Knight and Nike have set that program up for the long haul.

Ducks took the next step ahead when Kelly joined onto the program as OC under belotti and another when he took over as Head coach

I think because of his influence within the program like WTD etc... this will be a step back for the Ducks, especailly with USC back ready to go

Maybe not though who knows. I think he got the 1st Rose bowl W + saw LMJ & DT leaving +possible violations + knew NC hopes were slim = Went out on top looking for the next challenge

Still the best team in Oregon even tho its not sayin much LOL

A college coach that's never even been an assistant or played in the NFL, and has only been a head coach for 3 years?!?

I dont know anybody can think that this will end well

I'm giving it 2 yrs years max

Now if Marty joins as a consultant or maybe take a smaller version of Holmgren's role in Cleveland than I can like the hire more. Just get more football peoPle here.. Tampa has lost ALOT of football minds the past decade. Dungy, Gruden, Herm, Lovie, Tomlin, Kiffin **@* I know I'm missing more & I won't even comment on the fly way careers like Derrick Brooks finished since "Coach Ra " came...

I am a Duck fan, raised in Portland and went to UO for a year before transferring. My dad is a huge fan and I have strong ties there. I am a little hurt by Chip leaving, but I also understand it. The point is... I can root for the dude to be a success in the NFL without blinders. It's kind of hard to believe that people here are trashing him already. Do you know what Chip Kelly has meant to football? Have you followed the dude's career at all? He lives and breathes football. You don't go from coaching the freshman team at Columbia to being an innovative offensive specialist in Division I football as quickly as he did without possessing real substantive value. He wouldn't make this kind of leap without knowing full-well that he'll do it successfully. This dude is basically the Tex Winter of football in terms of having his tactical stuff down.

Rumor around campus is that Chip may have changed his mind. Apparently some people went to his house and conducted some sort of "riot" as noted by the Daily Emerald.

Sounds like damage control to me..........you gonna let a bunch of outsiders choose your future for you?, yea OK. It's either that or he had no real plans of leaving anyway

Looks like Kelly is staying...I'm sure Phil Knight had something to do with that being Oregon's biggest booster/almuni... ESPN.com story here.

What a %@%%%$$ idiot. I was actually getting excited about seeing his offense with us. !+$! this guy. The Glazers kept this %%#% under wraps and let absolutely nobody know he even interviewed and then he changes his mind cuz some students stood outside his house on some Joe Pa %%#%. Now we're going to end up hiring %@%%%$$ Mike Sherman or some %%#%. I hope they sanction the %%*$ out of Oregon and this guy is never considered for an NFL job again. We better hire Marty now.

"His heart is with college football and Oregon and he's no longer being considered,'' Tampa Bay GM Mark Dominik said Monday, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

Dominik must have been born yesterday. That's okay. I will translate it for him.

"Coach Kelly had a Brinks truck back up into his driveway in the middle of the night last night and unload multiple Nike bags of cash. As a result he has chosen to stay in Oregon."
