The Maloofs are just cracking me up now..... they're worried that once the smoke clears Sacramento will screw them on the offer

Irony at its finest
The Sacramento politicians and the Maloofs finally found common ground: setting arbitrary deadlines that won't ultimately impact the outcome

Source: Maloofs will give Sacramento additional time to submit matching bid past 5 p.m. Fri. deadline. Story soon on NBA.com.— David Aldridge (@daldridgetnt) April 12, 2013

I don't even...

I did wish Webber woulda came in and threw his name in the hat... woulda been nice
Same here. Maybe he's still wary after Center Court didn't work out.

My question here is: if the Kings match and the Maloofs accept the Sac deal... aren't they going back on a deal with Seattle then? My understanding was that they had an agreement with Seattle, and the only thing stopping it from going through was the BoG review. Or was just an idea, and if Sac comes up with a better deal before the BoG meets, then it's all fine and ethical for the Maloofs to go for it?

Not that it really matters to the Sacramento fans, other than just another example of the Maloofs being Maloofs. If I understand correctly.

Naw, the only way the Maloofs take the Sac deal, is if/when the BoG rejects the Seattle bid.

Or they back out of the Hansen deal before the BOG meeting if they know that deal wont get approved.

But nothing they've done in the past shows me theyd back out of a deal..

but for real, I don't think they can back out for the same reason why we're saying Hansen can't raise their bid.

Damn, had no idea the Spurs have 17 total owners in their ownership group with Peter Holt owning the majority 35% share.

I guess what Vivek is heading up isn't so out there

I think Schultz's Sonics ownership group had something like 40-50 people, in all.

Had no idea, I always thought most ownership groups were just a person or two and their family (like the Maloofs) and then a bunch of random local minority owners who were holdovers from original ownership

No, Look at the Giants & 49ers ownership groups. It's pretty similar, but you only hear about the majority owner. Heck, even Jerry Buss was selling shares of the Lakers to his stars.

Honestly, the Maloofs reputation just took another huge blow. They clearly tried to vet Sacs offer to green light an increase from Hansen.

If you think today has been fun, wait 'till you get a load of what's in store next week.New York's gonna be a hoot.

Folks have pointed this out to me and I did the math to confirm: based on his statement, Hansen actually raising offer by just $16.5 mil.
— Jonathan Santiago (@itsjonsantiago) April 13, 2013
Hansen says Maloofs and him agreed on $550 mil franchise valuation. He's purchasing 65% and 65% of $550 million is $357.5 million.
— Jonathan Santiago (@itsjonsantiago) April 13, 2013
thats not so bad, only like $16M more.

Good try on the Maloofs part to try and get Sac to fork up the offer so that Hansen could just raise the bid after the fact.

The $30m deposit and this strong-arm move has to stack up against the Maloofs/Hansen.

Objectively, It's interesting as hell to see these billionaires (on both sides) fighting this hard for a team.
