Congrats on Keeping the Team in Sac. Now y'all need to get a new arena
Hansen/Ballmer/Nordstrom and Vivek/Mastrov/Jacobs buyer groups were contingent on having a viable term sheet with their respective cities.

The new arena will be fine

Also, I guess STOP launched their anti-arena initiative... those people are annoying

Ya there are renderings buried somewhere in this thread.

But usually, renderings hardly look like how the actual product will look.

And apparently the Maloofs want resolution in the next 24-48 hours.

I actually have high confidence in Vivek successfully negotiating with those ******g idiots

I liked the aeg's interior design more but beggars can't be choosers.

I'm also hoping for new uniforms.

Haven't kept up with the thread. But how did stern take the news or what is his position on the matter I saw a small lip on TNT about the situation but couldn't really hear but he looked butthurt a lil

Petrie and some of the front office are at the combine right now......

wonder who the Maloofs/Vivek will send to the lottery?

Probably George.

Is it true that the reason NBA owners balked at the relocation vote is because the Seattle group was willing to foot the entire bill on the new Seattle arena while majority league owners want stadiums built through majority taxpayer money?

If Sacramento does keep the team who's gonna pay for that new arena?

To answer your first question, thats not entirely true. But yes, the NBA wants a public-private partnership when building an arena. Which quite frankly, might have started when the NBA moved the Sonics to Seattle.

Seattle's arena deal had their city's contributions, but the subsidy was guaranteed and backed by their potential ownership group. In essence, making it not exactly a true public subsidy that the NBA is looking for.

Both cities have term sheets voted on and ready to go.

Sacramento has agreed to pay for the arena mainly by way of leveraging parking revenue.

How much of Downtown Plaza is getting knocked out for the new arena? Is it just going to be Macys, forever 21, and the food court left standing? :lol

Pretty sure macys is a goner. It's not worth keeping there anyways. Perhaps it'll be moved to another location.

The women's side of Macys isn't part of the mall, they own that building and their parking lot.

I hope with the arena getting built, the towers site on capital can finally get moving after haltiing due to the economy.

Because unlike the Seattle group, the majority of owners of the league (mainly small market franchises) don't have the ability to build and fund an arena on their own.

The NBA is looking to set a standard of public-private partnerships to build new arenas.

And in Sacramento's case, it doesn't have to be directly the tax payers' dollar that funds the arena. Cities can get creative with it so it doesn't impact the general fund.

Because if it was owners paying 100% every city would want their owners to do it also.

If owners did it that way they would never make money. If there's no money to be made why own the team? They wouldn't. So instead of selling the team to an owner who'd pay 100% (very unlikely you'd find someone), the next best option is relocating to a city that WILL put up public dollars to split the cost.

As much as Napear annoys me...... that picture is dope.

I'll never forget this moment.

I was on the phone for the last 15 minutes of the telecast with my boy who moved to LA, and we were both in tears talking about the Kings leaving and watching Grant and Jerry breaking down on camera.
