"Dear Jesus, I masturbated yesterday and betrayed you....but check out my new shirt"

That is very commendable.

If it helps someone to stop sinning, then so be it. Do not hinder your brother or sister for what he/she does if it brings them closer to the father.

I know that when you do, it actually increases your desires and lust; at least, in my experience it has. So for the moment of pleasure, it creates many more ofturmoil.

I would never wear the T-shirt, but I would not snide at those that do.

Off topic, but my wife's parents just asked her over the weekend if we ever think about the fact that our son is 18 months old and we've never taken him to church; the only time he has been in church have been the 3 weekends he has spent with them. We had never had this talk with her parents before, but she finally just flat out told them 'No it doesn't bother us; we're doing it on purpose. We want him to know the teachings of the Bible, and the church is one of the last places he'll learn them.'

The church would never tell you that lust is a sin, but still a forgivable one. The church would condemn you for masturbating, leading you to believe that you should feel ashamed and unworthy, when in reality, the sin of lust is no more or less forgivable than any other sin, and God honors all efforts towards purity made in His name and for His will.

If you believe in God, then this applies: God made us, so He understands our human nature. Perfection is not His goal for our lives.

Sorry, I know there's a lot in all of that.

The shirts are ridiculous. The message behind the shirt is laughable. The people behind the message have missed the point.

Why is it a sin? Aren't you keeping your lusts and desires at bay, so to speak? I will tell you this, never once in my life has masturbationcaused turmoil. I would say for anyone with a modicum of restraint it won't. To tout your refusal of self-gratification is ridiculous. What message isbeing conveyed?

I am going to get one of these shirts for my friend that lost both of his arms in a car wreck.

I'm sorry but I always see you around as the Christian who seemingly hates all Christians. If you've read the Bible you'd know howimportant a church is in a Christians life. One of God's goal for our lives is to make us closer to His nature which = perfection right? It seemsyou've been that dude who's been misinterpreting the Bible.

I'm not saying all churches or even most churches teach the Bible correctly, but you are def. straying away from scripture. Find a good Bible believingchurch get ya doctrine straight.
.
"The church would never tell you that lust is a sin, but a forgivable one." I'm pretty sure

This is not my answer but it embodies what I want to say but can't put into words right now (headache FTL)...

Masturbation is a sin because a person consents in their own heart to take sexual gratification from impure thoughts. It is sinful to indulge in the sexual pleasure that is derived from the satisfaction of using one's imagination to FIXATE upon obscene images, or obscene actions, or forbidden sex. Lustfully fixating upon genitals, or sexual acts, is idolatry. This is called: the worship of obscenities. This is the sin of those addicted to pornography. That's often a "guy" thing. Alternatively, taking delight in the lust of another, or consummating a fantasy of forbidden sexual romance, is the sin of adultery in the heart. That's often a "girl" thing. The act of masturbation is an outward act that confirms that one's heart and mind has consented to an inward act of impurity. Only by consenting to an imagined act of impurity can one attain orgasm. To attain sexual release, a person's will consents to LOVE something that is sexually impure.
I will tell you this, never once in my life has masturbation caused turmoil. I would say for anyone with a modicum of restraint it won't.
It may not have caused you surface turmoil but to others it causes surface and internal turmoil and leads to more problematic actions down theroad. I can post a link to a site that did studies on masturbation and what it can lead to? Oh and its kinda like smoking weed. Some can handle it but otherswant to get higher and higher which leads them to far more terrible drugs.

To tout your refusal of self-gratification is ridiculous.

The message of over-coming sin and impurity.

I hope you don't mind but how did He lose both arms?

. If not hate then youwant to choke them.

Sure is. He forgives us but He doesn't want us to indulge in our wrong doings either.

It seems you've been that dude who's been misinterpreting the Bible.
I think alot of Believers and non believers do this. Especially on NT because some dudes on here will turn a fire cracker into a C4 explosive withtheir comparisons .

It would be more of a generalization and more of a fools decision to assume all churches are good. I think his discretion is warranted.

That's it. From now on I am only masturbating to the images of me one day marrying someone, having sex and then her successfully giving birth. We will only kiss until the day we wed. If I accidentally see just a wee hint of an erect nipple through clothing I will say four "Our Fathers" and one "Hail Mary", possibly orgasming when I say "blessed is the fruit of thy womb." In no way is that impure. We will only have missionary sex and be sure to go raw every time. We will attend church and I will masturbate to the thought of God 'touching me.' I will then go on to imagine me judging people by their desires and I will have the greatest of orgasms. That is my new mental picture to masturbate to. Success! Nothing impure there. Just love for the big guy up stairs.
To tout your refusal of self-gratification is ridiculous.
Why is it ridiculous?

Because it's empty. It affects no one! You are showing your refusal to please yourself in the name of something that doesn't matter. The only thing you are accounting for is some ridiculous shame you shouldn't have in the first place.
What message is being conveyed?
The message of over-coming sin and impurity.
Oh, so no message at all.
