The thing is, you'd never tell a person with mental issues to "man up" in real life. Why? Because you know better (or I hope you do.) Mental illness is a reality and it's one you're choosing to ignore because it contradicts your own archaic beliefs on depression and suicide.
Anyway, if there is a god, why is there mental illness, disease, and plagues afflicting us? Is it faulty design? I thought we were made in his image? Should we not be perfect then? or did he mess up? Is it because of "the fall"? Maybe he didn't mess up but just enjoys seeing us suffer for the alleged wrongs our "ancestors"? If the bible is to believed then it's the wrongs of TWO people that caused all this. Is this god THAT petty?

Great response

It would seem that there are two possible explanations for why man is the way he is if god is responsible for man's creation. The first possibility is that god simply created man to be imperfect. When god created Adam and Eve, he knew they would disobey him. This suggests that god created so that they would disobey him. God knew an infinite amount of ways he could create Adam and Eve and chose to create them such that they disobeyed god and introduced sin into the world. The second possibility is that god is a faulty designer and failed at creating Adam and Eve as perfect beings. If god is a faulty designer then he can't be god. He doesn't have the attribute of omnipotence. So, the biblical god is either incompetent or sadistic.

When I come into these threads, I haven't seen one OP actually ask a preacher or ANY leader of a church any of these questions. Are you scared to question them to their faces and would rather come to a sneaker sight to seek answers? If you want to debate and come up with these philosophical questions about religion and life, go ask a religious leader and come back and tell us what you asked and the answers you got. Why not? Who else would have more knowledge about these subjects?

These dudes dont really want an answer. Its just another way for insecure atheists to ask theists unanswerable questions therefore giving them some false sense of victory.

Because people mistake organized religion for god. Religious leaders often abuse their position, they're only men.

"No answer" is better than "God did it"

Why in honesty i have asked, and all i have ever got was quotes and direct while very vague and non specific... scriptures from the bible. I never once have been given an answer, just scriptures/qoutes directly from the bible. Or divert the question/topic to something different, or say god is so so complex that even if we got the answer we wouldnt know/be able to interpet nor understand it.

Also threads are usually made to get opinions/views from everyday all walks of life ppl. So how are you gonna get the opinions and views from several different ppl by asking one person?
