Dequan Cook is available... a repeat of Meeks but he's better than nothing

Not sure if it is the right answer. But is an option at least.

Could at least close up minutes at SG. Meeks & Cook getting around 40. Kobe getting maybe 8 (with most of his minutes at the 3).

this is a veteran team. the scoring is up but if the d does not step up this season will get worse. this team can score but defense needs to step. take some pride in playing defense.

im proud of you. you did not mention delonte west not once in this post lol

Pau for Cousins? Intriguing. Is he worth the extra baggage? We need some fast wing players. Bottom line, we need some youth. The Suns had youth and explosive players, we really don' t have that. With an aging team, we are not built for run and gun. Sigh. But what do I know, I'm just a fan looking in. It's really frustrating right now with the amount of talent we have. And our fan base is the most impatient fan base out there. Not winning a championship for the last couple years is not acceptable at all. Especially with the roster we have, it is downright embarrassing.

If we don't make the playoffs does MDA get canned?

only if a deal is in place for phil jackson.

if not no.

the lakers have embarassed themselves enough hiring back to back garbage coaches at 4 mill a year

just imagine if they hired a third?

whos worse than antoni and mike brown out there?

nobody

as for cousins for pau kings dont want pau

and if cousins was in a laker unform he would be given as much playing time as antawn jamison is getting right now...

if u clash with antoni he wont play u

Just some things I noticed looking at team stats... By the way it's extremely disheartening because they are similar to other elite teams.

1. FG% - We are 10th. But guys like MWP (42.4%) & Pau (41.6%). Both get 11 shots a game. That's gotta be better. Metta can improve by smarter shots from 3. Same can be said for Kobe from 3. Pau even at 44%, which is bad by his numbers would still help us. And even when he's playing stretch is not unreasonable to ask.
2. 3P% - We make the 4th most, take the 3rd most. But are 13th in %. Meeks has to shoot 42% (He's at 37%). Kobe needs to shoot 3s like he did in Nov. He shot 40% on 5 3's per game. He's shooting 34.4% on 6.9 3's in December. He took more controlled 3s in Nov. Just those slightly better marks put us top 10.
3. Opp FG% - Teams are shooting 44.5% against us. League average. Just 1.5 less basket game, would put us in the top 5.
4. FT% - Just league average would be 2 more made FT shots out of 29.7. We make 20.5.

So we leave about 6 points on the table on offense. And give up 3 points more than we should.

You look at Points per shot, we are 4th. Adjusted FG% we are 8th

We are 19th in APG. But that's expected. When you miss your leading assist guy for 2 months, and replace him with Duhon & Morris. It's expected. 2 more assists per game, which is far below what we have done since Nash has been back puts us 4th. With the exception of last game, we had 17, since Nash has come back we were getting 28 apg.

We need to take care of the ball slightly better. We have less TOs than OKC, but generate less. And also with a mediocre transition offense and defense that becomes a problem.

Meeks needs to develop a floater. He is too short and gets blocked almost everytime he goes up for a layup.

Mitch and Buss need to get a lot of the blame for the losses. Yes, they acquired Nash and Dwight but they also think that Ebanks and Morris are legit players :{.Sacre :{.

They could have signed players like Pietrus or Delonte and some others but instead chose to waste roster spots for Morris, Sacre, Ebanks, Clark, Odom-Johnson. :{
I don't know if they are trying to save money or just stupid. Delonte and Pietrus are not game changers but I doubt they would be useless like Ebanks and other scrubs on the team. It was obvious that the role players were trash in pre season and they dicided to go with them.

Pau Gasol should not be sucking this bad at his age. Malone was playing better at 38. Gasol does not take his fitness seriously. He has the skill but other than his height his body is not pro level.

QFT. To answer your question Mike D is an upgrade from Brown but not a significant one. I don't think we fire MDA because if we do it makes Jim Buss look like an idiot.

I wouldn't trade Meeks for Brewer.

Adding 1, subtracting another.

Need more people on the bench, not just shuffling 1 in, 1 out.

Also Meeks is still a value guy. He's only making $1.5 mil.

you can have as many people on the bench and it still doesnt matter.. if dantoni is not giving a lot of players the opportunity to play what's point of having them. even though i think delonte would be a great asset, i dont think he wants to deal with dantoni.. which will only put him at the end of the bench next to jamison

I mean other than Jamison, everyone who deserves to play does play... Jamison got hit with the unluck of the draw.

Brewer can play SG, so he'd definitely get playing time.

Jamison got pinched by not playing better than Metta or Hill.

I think Jamison at least deserves 10 minutes. But them's the breaks

If only Rip Hamilton was a couple years younger :{ . Bulls want to get rid of him. He doesn't get to the line even half of what he used to, but he's still a capable defender, and can score. But he's 34, and continues to get injured, so nix that.

We need to improve our defense, this team can score, it is on the other side where we struggle so damn bad :{
Also, the starting unit needs to help each other on the defensive end. Don't give up open shots :{
On the offensive end, Dwight and Pau needs to get it together. I hate how Pau doesn't even try to be aggressive, dude is looking to pass from a pick and roll with Nash >: One thing I hate the most with him is he camps outside the 3pt line. The **** is he doing?? He got one good 3pt shooting game and he thinks he's a 3pt specialist :{ It's really sad how he regressed over the years.
Dwight, atleast his free throws is getting better. But he gets stripped every damn time :{ Hopefully he gets to 100% and picks his level of play up.
Nash, he needs to shoot MORE. He is pure money when he shoots the basketball, I just wish he shot more :(
Kobe, my main man, it's kinda love/hate on his performance now. He's offense is still good but he needs to stop taking them hero shots :{ On the defensive end, don't even get me started :{

I could go on and one for the rest of the team but I just wish we play a good defense, something we could rely on late the game.

And D'Antoni :{ Starting to hate this guy. His offense is "Nash" and defense is "'Antoni" :{

to be honest with you, that whole system doesnt work. cause why did kobe move to the 3? for what reason? to have steve nash and another small guard on the field? which would mean that kobe/metta would split minutes. and metta also going over to the 4 with gasol, and dwight/hill? right? means no minutes for jamison, just so they can give more time to a weak guard? meeks produces a little bit, but if he is the so-called starter, then you want more minutes for morris, duhon, blake, johnson-odom and perhaps even ebanks at the expense of jamison? sorry i just dont see that working

Alright I'm over it, this bum Dwight aint signing here anyway :lol

Just the first of many

My dream scenario :hat :hat

No one said it was a great system :lol

I think Kobe at the 3 does work. Just because it is a better defensive matchup for him. But it only works if we had another SG who starts, not Morris.

Nash (30) / ???? (18)
??? (20) / Meeks (20) / Kobe ( 8 )
Kobe (27) / Metta (21)
Pau (16) / Hill (17) / Metta (9) (6 minutes short, and no one should get any more minutes out of the 3)
Dwight (34) / Pau (14)

There's 3 problems
1. The lack of a backup PG. If you go to the offseason portion of this thread, I was adamantly against Nash, if we weren't going to get a backup. Because it was necessary. I wanted Nash, and think he's a great pickup and makes us better. BUT we should have focused on a backup PG. We should have done whatever to bring back Ramon. I would still do what I could to get Ramon back. He is a capable backup, and can spill some minutes at SG where his defense is much better at the 2 than the 1 (In which you would have to reconfigure the rotation again).
2. No starting SG. This could be filled by literally anyone of any age that still has game because it is only 20 minutes. BUT they have to still have their wits on defense.
3. We are 6 minutes short at the PF position and Pau should not get more than 30 total. Hill shouldn't get anything more than 17 unless foul trouble calls. And Metta shouldn't get more than 30.
