yes they do specifically say that this is the biggest gta game to date...but then they also specifically say that we're going to the city of Los Santos..not San Andreas.  The zeroed in on a name.  that doesnt necessarily cut out other places...but it definitely starts to dim that spotlight on what could be..

The game will look and play better on 360.

How do you equate how many disc to graphics and gameplay ? Your disc size is irrelevant if the game looks and plays inferior versus another console. Get a clue bro...

This is true. More capabilties such as graphics and gameplay = more space required on the disc. The Blu-Ray disc that the PS3 has 5 times more storage than the DVDs, which the 360 still uses. When it comes time for the games to reach their max capabilities, the Blu-Ray discs will still be viable because they have the required storage capacities while the DVDs won't have enough space.

Where are you hearing this from? Cause if it's not from R* or a credible gaming site, then it's bull %%%#.

Some of the speculation in this thread is mindblowingly dumb.

How do you equate a game that has zero details other than a 1:30 trailer to gameplay on either console? Get a clue bro...

Maybe because EVERY SINGLE TITLE that's both on PS3 and 360 looks and plays better on the 360 .

Assassin's Creed, Devil May Cry, Elder Scrolls looks and play better on PS3 than the 360.

Edit: and Final Fantasy.

I don't think people realize that games look better on the 360 because they're made to work on the 360 since it's the least powerful of the two. Games that are made specifically for the PS3 without the 360 in mind will easily look better.

I own a 360, by the way. No PS3.

The PS3 is way more powerful, though.

*waits*

I interpret this as meaning LA and surrounding areas like the Valley, IE, and OC = hills, countryside, and beaches. Even just including parts of these areas would make the game bigger than IV.

AC1 was better on 360. AC2 and Brotherhood are better on PS3.

You're very optimistic if you think this is coming out in May. When is the last time you've seen any major game, let alone one as big as GTA get released only 6 months after it's first officially announced? These days they let you wait a year, at least.

What about those vineyards that are in the trailer though? Like they pointed out in the IGN analysis video, those are not L.A. but northern California, like San Fierro.

not to feed into an argument, but by that time there will be new nintendo and xbox systems....

and youll still be using blu ray on a ps3.

so you are saying Microsoft and Nintendo would develop new technology, but Sony won't?

On another note, if you think Tommy is the lead who is the guy talking in the trailer?

360's unified architecture makes it easier to develop for and to use efficiently. PS3's GPU does have more brute power but no dev is ever going to use it as efficiently as 360's because of how poorly the system was built. That's why the only games that take advantage of the PS3's power are the ones that's developed only for the platform for 2+ years. You guys have to remember games are developed on PC's using Windows which ofcourse the transition to Microsoft's console is seamless compared to the PS3 not so much. The 360 will always be the console devs prefer at least for this generation which I don't see changing with the next generation either because remember the original was vastly superior to the PS2 in power and overall the 360 is the same compared to the PS3.

Xbox 360 - 1.0 Billion Vertices/sec (using only 8 of the 48 Unified Pipelines)
PS3 - 1.0 Billion Vertices/sec

Filtered Texture Fetch
Xbox 360 - 8.0 Billion Texels/sec
PS3 - 12.0 Billion Texels/sec

Vertex Texture Fetch
Xbox 360 - 8.0 Billion Texels/sec
PS3 - 4.0 Billion Texels/sec

Pixel Shader Processing with 16 Filtered Texels Per Cycle (Pixel ALU x Clock)

Xbox 360 - 16.0 Billion Pixels/sec (using 32 of the 48 Unified Pipelines)
PS3 - 24.0 Billion Pixels/sec

Multisampled Fill Rate
Xbox 360 - 16.0 Billion Samples/sec (8 ROPS x 4 Samples x 500MHz)
PS3 - 8.0 Billion Samples/sec (8 ROPS x 2 Samples x 500MHz)

Pixel Fill Rate with 4x Multisampled Anti-Aliasing
Xbox 360 - 4.0 Billion Pixels/sec (8 ROPS x 4 Samples x 500MHz / 4)
PS3 - 2.0 Billion Pixels/sec (8 ROPS x 2 Samples x 500MHz / 4)

Pixel Fill Rate without Anti-Aliasing
Xbox 360 - 4.0 Billion Pixels/sec (8 ROPS x 500MHz)
PS3 - 4.0 Billion Pixels/sec (8 ROPS x 500MHz)

Frame Buffer Bandwidth
Xbox 360 - 256.0 GB/sec (dedicated for frame buffer rendering)
PS3 - 20.8 GB/sec (shared with other graphics data: textures and vertices)
PS3 - 10.8 GB/sec (with 10.0 GB/sec subtracted for textures and vertices)
PS3 - 8.4 GB/sec (with 12.4 GB/sec subtracted for textures and vertices)

Texture/Vertex Memory Bandwidth
Xbox 360 - 22.4 GB/sec (shared with CPU)
Xbox 360 - 14.4 GB/sec (with 8.0 GB/sec subtracted for CPU)
Xbox 360 - 12.4 GB/sec (with 10.0 GB/sec subtracted for CPU)
PS3 - 20.8 GB/sec (shared with frame buffer)
PS3 - 10.8 GB/sec (with 10.0 GB/sec subtracted for frame buffer)
PS3 - 8.4 GB/sec (with 12.4 GB/sec subtracted for frame buffer)

Shader Model
Xbox 360 - Shader Model 3.0+ / Unified Shader Architecture
PS3 - Shader Model 3.0 / Discrete Shader Architecture

Xbox 360 has the advantage in most cases.

Some PS3 GPU (RSX) specs are still not confirmed as final. It's assumed to have 24 pixel pipelines, 8 vertex pipelines, 8 ROPS (raster), and 550MHz clock speed. But any of those could change, especially the clock speed.

Are there any other GPU spec categories worth adding?

UPDATE: RSX figures were updated to represent GeForce 7 based architecture with 24 pixel pipelines, 8 vertex pipelines, 8 ROPS, 500MHz core, and 650MHz memory. In other words, it dropped from 550MHz/700MHz to 500MHz/650MHz.

The PS3 can't compete

....it actually doesnt matter either way. the next consoles will be download only anyway.

- Sony went out of their way to put Blu-Ray on the PS3 for its stake in the format and movies ALONE. the space for games was just a sidebar bonus. but you get people clinging on to PS3 having Bly-Ray as if it means something signifigant in gaming and it just hasnt yet.

...its already been said that the next media fomat probably wont even be another physical disc. yeah, HVD is out there but its hella expensive right now ($120 per disc).

sigh.

dog, nintendo is dropping their new system first....xbox 360 had 3/4ths of the shelf life the ps3 has

sony itself stated the number of years the ps3 is going to be their machine

and to my knowledge, its 2-3 years longer than xbox.

nintendo already has their "next gen" developed.

so, yes, sony will be with the ps3 even after the new nintendo and xbox systems drop.

thats sony saying that.

hence the blu ray player you touch yourself about...

Gonna drive yourselves crazy trying to figure out what's going on with the trailer lol.
I'm sure more videos will be popping up sooner than later
