donegal is a type of tweed ... softer than your usual coarse tweed. i'd say your options are probably these two:

Polo "Garrison" model. there are a bunch on eBay in either 2 piece or 3 piece. the ones with cashmere run a little higher, but they are great suits. They'll set you back about 600 on the bay or 350 if you can catch them in the outlet ... regular price is about 1950. Here is an example of the garrison three piece from SF:

Went to BR yesterday for the 50% addtl off. Got there are 10:30 the checkout like was wrap throughout the store. All Smalls, no decent sizes. Went to Somerset mall here in MI today for the 40% off and the line was still wrapped through the store. Found a jacket for 60. Took me 40 minutes to check out.

how much are the pants?  BR usually has coupons so factor that into the cost.

otherwise, you can definitely pick up some decent suits for $300 from macys during sales.  i recently picked up a "tailored fit" tommy hilfiger from macys.com for less than $200 during the F&F sale.  decent quality for the price but i'm no suit connoisseur/snob.

and yes you can rock boat shoes to the club as long as you don't keep it to casual.
