No doubt, dude is beasting this year. He has to be the leading candidate at this point along with KG just because of their team's success. All of these30pt+ & 15reb+ games are rediculous. LeBron is having a great year so far but unless his team has success, he won't win the MVP (see Kobe the past 2years). If the Magic can put up 50+ wins with Howard averaging 24 and 15 like he is now, he should be a lock.

Dwight is currently averaging 27pts 15 boards and 2.7 blocks per game. His team is currently second in the East.

I don't see why he wouldn't atleast be mentioned in the running for MVP.

If only the ping pong balls had dropped at different way, he'd be suiting up for the Windy City

Lebron and Dwight are very close in value to their teams.

But I hate this "in relation to the team" argument. The same goes for Kobe then, who has been by far the most valuable individual on one team for thepast few years. (i.e. the argument as to how the Lakers would be without him).

Lebron is valuable to a team which is 1 game above .500 and not very impressive. Lebron's stats have been though the roof but I don't think it'senough MVP-wise. His performances are akin to Kobe's individual showcases (i.e. 81 & 62, 50 four straight games), which obviously got him nowhere inthe MVP races.

Dwight is the centerpiece of one of the East's top teams.

RIGHT NOW I would say Dwight or KG, although Dwight's dominance has been more apparent.

is N.O. more talented than Cleveland? yes. but not by much. Peja isnt the same player he was 6 years ago, david west is eating off of CP3, tyson chandleris limited offensively, and Mo Pete is basically the same player as Pavolvic. CP3 is avg 18ppg 10 assts, 4 rebs, 3 steals and is playing in the toughestdivision in the league.

Lebron's team just isn't good enough for him to win. He is personifying GREATNESS out there on the court right now, and it showed when he was out theother day. But if you take Dwight off of the Magic... they would absolutely fall apart to nothingness as well. The only reason Hedo and these dudes are evenscoring is cause they triple team Dwight and they are WIDE open all game long.

And I can see Lebron stats cooling off later on in the season.

The thing is, Lebron is FORCED to put up ridiculous numbers. Dude earlier had it correct with the Kobe comparison. Kobe has been FORCED to put up ridiculousnumbers, however, he didn't win it because numbers don't show anything other than the fact that you have to put up dumb amounts of points to keep yourteam afloat. If Kobe had the Lakers anywhere higher than the 7th seed (remember, they were looking like a force at the beginning of last season), I have nodoubt in my mind he would have won over Dirk. AI in 01 deserved MVP because he led his team to the top seed in the East while meaning just as much asKobe/Lebron meant to his team in terms of pure statistical output.

What Dwight and CP3 are doing is much like what AI did that year (though of course its way too early in the season to truly make the comparison). They bothmean a lot to their respective teams, and are the main reasons that their teams are getting it done. Everyone needs a supporting cast (even if AI just hadMutumbo and Mckie), and if you can't do it withwhat you have, then you're SOL.
