I can't believe that in these horrible times when people are losing their jobs all over the city this bastard is going to raise our taxes. Pathetic.
Republicans are truly scum, this dude got like a 400K house and hes like "he's gonna tax me the same way like under clinton so poor people can maybe prosper

"
i wouldn't call him scum...

just really selfish with a false sense of entitlement...

me and hov kid have gone back and forth about this issue...

he's really on some "no, its MY money, they just want it because they're LAZY"

i don't think he recognizes how privileged he is, not because he worked hard to get where he's at, but because he had the opportunity to do such...

some people aren't even afforded the opportunity...

which will hopefully change under a new education plan.....

but don't tell him his tiny percentage increase is going to things like education and healthcare, he'd rather maintain that it's going into the pockets of the poor, who are just plain lazy and want a handout...

like i told you before, hovkid, you ain't missin no meals...
I couldn't say it better. eNPHAN speaks the truth.

It's just a shame they don't do it like they do in the UK - there would be removal trucks at the White House this morning and he would be sworn in thisafternoon.

I know he has a lot of ground to cover in the next few months but I always thought that was kind of cool - hasn't happened in a long time though asthere's no maximum term and the same party has been in power for ever.

Slim,

Where is your heart? Not your mind, but your heart?

Where is your F-A-I-T-H?

Don't know your ethnic background, and it doesn't matter.

Faith and hope gets ALL of us through.

Being 100% concrete leaves you in a saltbox, with a limited life span, and bad health...
Emotions delude and confuse. That's the problem.

Its not about the "physical change". Its the mindstate, I'm only 25 years old but I have never seen people in cities dancing in the streets. Honking their horns and and cheering from their cars. People partied in DC last night. Its the feeling of excitement and relief that it brings. That's what 'change' is about. My-T.
The only change is the amount of melanin the president has.

To expand upon that, I believe what we have here is not so much that people have made the right choice...rather, it is the illusion of choice that has many dancing in the streets. Do you think even for one second that those in power, I mean those in real power, the ones not discussed as much as the visible figures in the dailies, would for one moment entrust the planets most powerful government & possibly the fate the mankind to someone who wouldnt follow or would dismantle all their aims in one swift stroke?

If you ask me, we're living in the times of the Matrix, where things simply arent as they appear....I simply dont trust it yet.
In our history, we've witnessed a criminal lead our country for eight years who will leave office richer and clear of any crime. Bush took over the country and now Obama will do some spring cleaning and get this country back on track. Can I get an AMEN!

I sincerely hope you are right but in my heart of hearts I am convinced that you (and many with you) are totally wrong. Obama is such a likeable guy and I wish for him to do every he can to make the world a better place. But I know there are certain things we are not privy too, mechanations that we're not so aware of, people and groups that have an infite more sway over what happens than us voting (which is illusionary in itself).

They want you to feel happy, empowered, that you've 'done the right thing', that we're moving forward, progress if you will. But I would bet my life that in my lifetime things are NOT going to get better, things wont REALLY change, and that anyone who inherits the hotseat of the White House isnt really as much of the 'own person' as you guys seems to think....
you dont think things will get better in your lifetime? i feel sorry for you.

My man, I feel the exact same way you do, just didn't know how to express myself as well as you did. I think Obama is a likeable guy and all,but I can't even FORCE myself to feel a sense of pride or hope or any of that rhetoric he is preaching. All I will say is just remember what happened lasttime The President's approval rating was at an all time high, he had the full support of the media, and congress would do his bidding without a secondthough...that was only after 9/11. Obama isn't even in office yet. That is beyond scary

They can do that in the UK because the "Royal" family really runs things.

We do need a bit of transition time here in the US.

theres a reason why people projected to make the money obama said he would tax, went out and voted for obama ... i watched as someone more educate dthan myselfsqueezed 1500 more dollars out of my tax return than i could ... wealthy people in the upper tax brackets arent going to be affected very much ... its thepeople who are well off, but not well off enough to have a full time accountant stretch their money who will suffer ... someones got to pay for the extraspending ... someones got to pay for those tax credits ... we will see

most of you dont seem 2 understand the econimic plan. hes not taxing individual people so much as big businesses. your money will pretty much be safe.socialism is actually a republican idea i.e you get what you work for while helping out as many others as you can. the more important part of yesterday is thefact the legislature is democratic and everyone of them is gonna want 2 help pass history making legislature so damn near everything he proposes will getpassed

Flagstone ReIncorporated December 2005 in the wake of the devastation of hurricanes Wilma, Rita and Katrina on the US by Bermuda hedge fund management company West End Capital and based out of the latter's Church Street offices. Writes property, property catastrophe and specialty and casualty reinsurance. While its main underwriting office is in Bermuda, its data centre and back officer work is done in Halifax, Nova Scotia and part of its catastrophe modeling and risk analysis is done in the low cost jurisdiction of Hyderabad in India. The company is also building up a separate European underwriting platform in Switzerland, while its international reinsurance marketing is carried out in London. It has a 28.5 percent stake in Cayman Islands-based insurer Island Heritage Holdings Ltd. Employs 95 people globally, of which around one-third work at its Church Street offices. The others are spread out, mostly in Canada and India, but also at small offices in London and Switzerland. "The company realised that in certain jobs it is hard to get the locals to do the work because of limited availability, so rather than try to have those jobs in Bermuda where you have to get the people through immigration and there is the high costs, we decided to have them from the very beginning somewhere else. So what we have is access to lots of big talent pools and no immigration problems because they are working in their own country." Flagstone has accountancy, legal claims, and IT support and networking based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, while in Hyderabad, India, it has a catastrophe modeling team, development operation and research and development group. The cost of bringing someone in (to Bermuda) is very high. It's hard for them to make a career move because they can't stay here forever, so it's much easier to employ someone in their own country with lower cost base where there is no issue about them getting a job and they can stay with us as long as they want. Payroll tax does increase the cost of doing business here and is one of the factors that people look at when they are doing business. It costs a lot for lots of good reasons; it's a small Island with limited resources and limited labour pool and that tends to drive up prices. I'm not complaining about, it's just a fact. The higher those costs get the more people will start looking for alternatives like we chose."

MaRIIncorporated December 2006 by Marsh & McLennan, the world's largest insurance broker, to bring as much as $1 billion in new insurance coverage to clients in disaster-prone areas in 2007 and beyond. Investors include Lehman Brothers Holdings and will offer much-needed property coverage to Fortune 1000 companies in vulnerable parts of North America. It will pay out any claims from hurricanes and earthquakes, and partner ACE Ltd., also based in Bermuda, will cover other losses. This new facility provides large corporate clients of Marsh with access to insurance capacity intended to fill gaps that are creating instability and shortfalls in property catastrophe risk coverage. Traditionally, this form of extra risk capital - a "sidecar" - allows reinsurers to offer more capacity to their clients, the retail insurers. What makes MaRI innovative is that it provides Marsh clients with direct access to the capital markets through a highly-rated ACE delivery vehicle.

i don't think he recognizes how privileged he is, not because he worked hard to get where he's at, but because he had the opportunity to do such...

some people aren't even afforded the opportunity...

which will hopefully change under a new education plan.....

but don't tell him his tiny percentage increase is going to things like education and healthcare, he'd rather maintain that it's going into the pockets of the poor, who are just plain lazy and want a handout...

like i told you before, hovkid, you ain't missin no meals...

HOV.. you and I are in the same Tax Bracket son son... my house cost a tad more than 400K.. almost double in fact, but if you are a smart businessman.. you know how to claim EVERY Tax credit available so 45% of your income isn't taken by the government.

Split your businesses. Get a better accountant.. cause if you are on that level.. you should NEVER be without a good one. I will be only paying MORE for my accountant this year and beyond so he keeps everything I bring in the same amount or less.

You know why alot of Rich people weren't too worried? Cause they all knew the tax loops would protect them as well as the Tax Credits their businesses would recieve. For smoes like us who don't employ others, but do ok for ourselves... its up to us to figure out how we keep the money we have and be happy Bush or McCain isn't in office.

I'll be damned if I get my Healthcare taxed by some dude who has never felt what I have felt in life as far as being poor and having to climb to where I am. I'd rather a dude who finally looks like me and has been a self made man represent over the guy who's life expectancy won't last thru the actual Presidential Term.

Dude.. get over it and instead of complaining figure out how you get around those hurdles.

My Dad ALWAYS said. Don't complain if you can do something about it...and if you aint going to do anything about it why complain?

Marley Said:
theres a reason why people projected to make the money obama said he would tax, went out and voted for obama ... i watched as someone more educate dthan myself squeezed 1500 more dollars out of my tax return than i could ... wealthy people in the upper tax brackets arent going to be affected very much ... its the people who are well off, but not well off enough to have a full time accountant stretch their money who will suffer ... someones got to pay for the extra spending ... someones got to pay for those tax credits ... we will see

I hope everyone realizes, its not ALWAYS taxation that pays for everything. Its fiscal spending in other areas of government that can be scaled back to provide for other well needed programs.

Like I don't believe in certain types of welfare for those who don't attempt to find a job and keep having children. I say tie their tubes and MAKE them get a job or put those kids in foster care where they might be better off.

Put money in Foster Care even to make those kids who didn't have a choice be productive members of society instead of scared with reasons to be less than what they can be. There are soo many things we can redistribute as far as spending goes, not just people's paychecks. I think soo many people take that term and run with it. I say Tax Lottery Money more than it is, cause its money that you wouldn't have won otherwise.

Virginia makes Gillions in Lottery tax every year, yet they have to cut back jobs due to budget problems?? WHAT? How does that happen and they say a good portion of that goes to Virginia Schools? Not the one's I have visited.

I think before crucifying the work of a man who isn't even in office is the wrong thing to do. How about you give him the same chance for 4 years that you all made a mistake giving a man who had 8 years to make your life the way it is now.

As a matter of fact, take responsibility for the good stuff you have done on your own and as well as bad... Bush didn't make you all buy those extra pair of sneaks or Big Screen TVs.. He just made our Petro Purchases suck for years..

Give a Brotha a Chance. Literally.

P.S. Marley that wasn't directed at you bruh.. lol.. Just using your words to make a point.

My man, I feel the exact same way you do, just didn't know how to express myself as well as you did. I think Obama is a likeable guy and all, but I can't even FORCE myself to feel a sense of pride or hope or any of that rhetoric he is preaching. All I will say is just remember what happened last time The President's approval rating was at an all time high, he had the full support of the media, and congress would do his bidding without a second though...that was only after 9/11. Obama isn't even in office yet. That is beyond scary

it's beyond scary that the american public (as a whole) actually like our next president?
You do know when Bush's approval rating was the highest right? After 9/11. I shouldn't have to spell the rest out for you.

, everyone is so bent outta shape thinking there gonna gobroke because Obama is president. That's not going to happen if you do your own part to make sure your taxes are handled to your advantage. People act likewe haven't been taxed for the last 8 years, no matter what evryone will be taxed it just so happens that the wealthy will be taxed more. But if you reallythink that increase in taxes is going to dramatically affect your way of life then you are just way out of touch with politics and the way our world is rightnow.

It prospered for years with its secret rum recipe. After the Spanish-American War of 1898, Bacardi gave the world the Cuba Libre and the Daiquiri. But Fidel Castro took control in 1959 and nationalized the plant and assets without compensation. The founder's descendents exiled themselves and began afresh. The Bermuda building was designed by Mies van der Rohe. Major businesses are Bacardi International Limited and Bacardi Capital Limited. Between them, they oversee the worldwide (outside USA) marketing of much of the group's international financial affairs and bulk transportation. They also market Martini and Rossi vermouth; Asti sparkling wine - which they bought in 1993; Bombay Sapphire Gin from England, Dewars Whisky from Scotland and New Zealand vodka and gin producer 42 Below. The private Bacardi companies do not disclose financial results. There is also a large office in Miami, Florida. In 2007, Rising demand for deluxe scotch whisky in China, Taiwan, Korea and other Asian countries prompted Bacardi to invest more than $250 million over 10 years to expand production of its Dewar's brand in Scotland. The Bermuda-based company intends to add a new maturation warehouse and blend centre in Glasgow, which will include new bottling lines and packing equipment. Bacardi is also finalizing options to buy a 100-acre site in central Scotland for a second maturation and blending facility. The Dewar's brand of whisky includes 12-year, 15-year and 18-year maturities and therefore any increase in production has to be planned with a significant lead-up time. Dewar's is the number one selling blended scotch in the US.

IPOC International Growth FundIn early 2006, the Wall Street Journal revealed that the mutual fund had been set up on the Island five years ago by a convicted fraudster. It was alleged that it was effectively a holding company for around $1 billion in telecommunications assets transferred through a network of shell companies. The WSJ said the scandal went all the way up to the Russian IT and Communications Minister Leonid Reiman. IPOC includes two other Bermuda companies, Comitas and Honestas. The Bermuda Government has moved to wind up the fund and eight affiliated companies remains active. The suit will rumble through the Island's courts from most of 2008. In a separate legal move, prosecutors in the British Virgin Islands are reported to have launched a criminal probe in Ipoc's activities over claims that $40 million of court fees paid by the company were the "proceeds of crime." There is a claim that Russia's telecommunications minister Leonid Reiman is the ultimate beneficial owner of Ipoc. Mr. Reiman has denied this claim, according to a report in the UK's Financial Times.

A newly formed Bermuda corporation, The Stanley Works, Ltd., was to become the parent company of The Stanley Works. The idea was hugely controversial. John M. An important portion of our revenues and earnings are from outside the United States, where nearly 50 percent of our people reside. An increasing proportion of our materials are being purchased from global sources. This change will create greater operational flexibility, better position us to manage international cash flows and help us to deal with our complex international tax structure." But on August 3, 2002, after huge publicity in the USA, it was reported that Stanley Works had decided not to re-incorporate in Bermuda after all. It has $ multi-million US Defense and Homeland Security contracts.

I dont think it will, I know it wont. Some call it a downward spiral, I call it inevitabilty. Do you think your lifestyle is sustainable? The US alreadyconsumed enough of the earths resources that could if allocated sustain 4 Earths. Also, you think Earth can survive the rise of consumption in the east(China), the unwillingness for the US to effectively change environmental policy and sustainability (if it isnt too late already), the declining naturalresources (an oncoming 'resource ransoming'), the flawed, corrupt and dishonest money markets, politicians, corporations and legal system? I haventeven started on the psychological effect of modern life on our overloaded psyche yet. What you think, feel, know, are they totally your own or are they reallyChannel Zero's? Add all this up, the varying grotesque vagaries of human nature and you have one big FAIL that no man can save, not even the son of Jor-El(as Obama nicely seduced you with). The only difference between you and me, if you were honest, is that I believe it will all end in my lifetime (or not toodistant future).....so no I'm not celebrating a US Presidents win, and NEVER will....

They are all in actuality the same, and to summise..any real choice was made before you even got there

a lot of random thoughts...

People hated on christians (self included) for voting based on "morality" issues which had little to do with true politics and governing a countrywhich is supposed to be free of religion in the state - i feel people who voted for Obama just because he's black are just as guilty in this case.

I think it's been funny listening to many republicans come up with reasons to hate Obama which have nothing to do with his actual policies... peopleworking at McDonald's crying about this term that's been raped lately, "redistribution of the wealth" - like uh, hey... it's not going tohurt you bud, not sure what you're crying about.

I think this entire election was SO devoid of actual policies being talked about, and that's kind of scary. I heard so many less people the past few weekstalking about actual issues-driven voting than I did who they "liked" better as a speaker or who trashed who better. I will admit I didn'tfollow things too closely this time around because I sort of learned my lesson about doing that the last two elections - but I followed it closely enoughyou'd think I would've heard more people talking about actual issues, and they just didn't... any issues they spoke of were just buzz words beingput out by campaigns. Voters seemed relatively MORE uneducated than they normally are, in my experience.

Sarah Palin making it as far as she has now in politics is about equally as sad as Obama being elected is hopeful. Maybe this just goes to truly show howlittle the president actual means at this point, beyond being a figurehead.

Despite many people feeling like Obama getting elected is a sign of progress in this country, I can't help feeling like we are MORE divided as a countrytoday than we were 4 years ago, and it will only get worse the next 4 years.

Lastly - I hope someday I can feel as hopeful and inspired by a candidate as some of you (the ones who truly followed him and believe in him, not just cheeredhim because he was black) did/do by Obama - somebody who actually stands for all the things I believe in. I really am envious of that sort of hopeful feelingfor the world.

Btw, the NYC commercial RE market (the strongest commercial RE market in the nation) plunged by 61% according to a report in yesterday's papers.

Yesterday was a big info dump day so I suggest everyone carefully go through the papers to find "interesting" aka bad info.

Truth bro, I hate to say it but those who think things such as 9/11 will be a just a centrepiece of history may be in for more of a suprise. I dont doubt thepossibility of something really awful happening, under what guise I dont know but there is one thing that people in power want more than anything, morepower...the means to that end could be anything
