Probably to keep it different. Nike likes to change materials for "similar" colored variations.
Had they been regular then we might have actually be fortunate enough to have finally gotten the silver pro sample from years ago

I personally prefer the more vivid vibrant blue compared to the dull (in the pic above), not sure which hue is closer to the OG tho
