FOOD THREAD VOL. GRUB LIFE

I will never ever touch 95% of any American beer. My go tos are Heineken & Stellas ice cold. The only American beer I've had in the last 20 years was Leinenkugel's summer time shandys.

I really like Sharp's Cornish Pilsner but can never find it...

I hate these new fangled IPAs to. Taste too hoppy, spicey, overly tart, & ****. I'll let the bearded hipsters with their smedium shirts & skinny jeans drink them.

Yea they gotta be just outta the freezer cold.

Are pbr and yuengling still hipster beers lol

I like modelos.

Maybe yuengling has become a hipster beer but it hasn’t always been that way. I have family in Philly and that’s all they drink for decades now. My 65 year old Aunt Mary most definitely is not a hipster

^ i only drink that if its cheap at the local bar or its served at a party... i would never buy it at the liquor store or bar if regular price... for example this bar i go to on saturdays draft of coors for 2.50 obviously not my favorite but its cheap... get like 5 or 6 and im good... but my go to beers in no order are heineken, modello, dos equis and presidente... i also like to try ipa with 9.0% alcohol at the bar... 2 or 3 drafts has me cooked lol

I can't stand IPAs, I know a lot of folk like them but they are just not for me.

I like sour beers though.

:emoji_thumbsup:Yup & if i see you dranking that mess, Imma look at you like that too.

I don’t drink a lot of beer anymore - just don’t like how full it makes me feel. I basically never drink it at home; only when I got out to eat or for drinks.

My current favorites are Belgian White Ales - Blue Moon is passable - but I prefer actual Belgian beers like Hoegaarden - and Red Ales like Karl Strauss Red Trolley Ale or Murphy’s Irish Red.

As for good, cheaper beers, I enjoy Red Stripe.

If I’m doing a full day of drinking, like most Sundays during football season, light beer is pretty much what I stick to. Cheap and doesn’t fill you up.

Otherwise, I’m generally drinking liquor with the occasional microbrew.

Oh yea I like guiness.
At first I didn't but it grew on me.

Modelos and guiness are the only beers I drink but I'm not really knowledgeable about beers.

But light is so popular in the South.
Had it once lol

Anyone that reads the beer thread knows that I know a thing or two about a thing or two about beer.

Love stouts, sours, pilsners, saisons, kolsch, barleywines, etc., but IPAs are my all-time favorite. When I see people say they hate them I can understand the sentiment if their only exposure to them are the ones that are widely distributed. The big name craft brewers (Stone, Sierra Nevada, Lagunitas, Founders, Sam Adams, etc.) all tend to make West Coast-style IPAs, which are much more harsh/bitter/grassy/piney than East Coast/New England-style, which are much more tropical/juicy/soft.

Just cracked this one and it's tasting like orange-pineapple juice:

In other news: found some black truffle goat cheese at Whole Foods just before, so I'm gonna make a bacon/pea/goat cheese frittata with it tonight. Pics to follow.

Had creme of vegetable soup for the first time today. Absolutely delicious, with an omelet sandwich for breakfast.

Homemade chicken cordon bleu with yuca fries. It definitely tasted better than it looks lol.

Are there any East coast style IPAs that are more widely available. I live in Nevada. I can make a trip to Totalwine and poke around.

.

Have you tried any of the Ballast Point Brewery IPAs? They’re pretty popular out here in CA. They have grapefruit and watermelon IPAs that are my favorites of the IPAs I’ve tried.
