This is my Chinese take-out dinner tonight. Sweet & Sour Shrimp, Szechuan Eggplant and Fried Rice...on a paper plate...it’s pretty average, but I’m posting it because it relates to the actual topic of this thread...

Coarse grind pepper or regular?

Coarse for me. Adds a better taste
 
**** made me look it up again and too much black pepper can cause stomach problems, skin dryness, painful diarrhea, too much consumption may lead to it getting in the lungs and that has been reported to lead to death.

:lol:

So there you go I guess. Keep ps'ing pepper on your food pics or actually dousing your food in pepper though. I find it hilarious.
 
On ice cream, I still got a 31 Flavors/Baskin-Robbins by me and a Coldstone (which I was never that big on).

The best place near me is a an ice cream shop owned by one of the Top Chef winners, but I never see many people in it, so I worry about it.

So many good spots are closing or have closed around me. Ici in Berkeley had the best ice cream I've ever tasted, now closed.

Is this occurring in your neighborhoods as well?
Pretty sure this occurs everywhere. Restaurants are short lived. Especially the really expensive ones. I assume that's why down here in LA, these little pop ups are the wave. Once they get a dedicated base, then a restaurant comes. It's been like this the past two years or so

Regarding the steakhouse talk that was popping off earlier:

While I can make a decent steak at home, I still go steakhouses from time to time. I got to Brazilian joints because I like the experience and variety. I don't have the time and patience to dry age my beef so I go sometimes for that.

I got to a place called Echo and Rig quite a bit. The food is good, they are not crazy expensive, they got a great brunch, they serve butcher cuts as well, got sour beer on tap, the nonsteak options are good, the got a ton of small plate and side options, the deserts a quality too (but I rarely have them). Added bonus they got a butcher shop downstairs of the place.
 
Heard Brazilian steakhouse being mentioned a couple times. I want to try Picanha but the fat on the side keeps me away from it
