FOOD THREAD VOL. GRUB LIFE

Went 2 for 4 on dishes last night :lol.

Ozzie rolls were a no go. Oil temp was way too high and used too much dough in the rolls. The outside fried almost immediately and the insides were still doughy. And for the sous vide mashed potatoes, all the slices didn’t fully cook due to overcrowding the bag. Both easy fixes. Green beans came out fine.

Steaks came out a perfect medium rare. The flavor from the butter & thyme added just enough extra flavor.
After sous vide then after sear

Employers that feed their employees doughnuts for breakfast are fools.

It is a dessert
Kind of confused as to your point.

Do you think eating doughnuts in the morning takes away from productivity or something? That's the only angle I could see to make your thought somewhat cogent.

When my office provides breakfast to employees, they bring in bagels & cream cheese, donuts and fruit. The fruit typically moves the slowest. LOL.

I'll bite...

What separates doughnuts from other sweet breakfast items like pancakes, waffles, french toast, pastries, etc.?
All of those are desserts.

We had this convo in here before.

I would say those are breakfast items folks should indulge in every once in a while, but those things are all junk foods as well

Yea, that is exactly what I am saying

A few jobs I have been at have done this with doughnuts, muffins ( as Charles Barkley says, cake for people in denial), and other pastries and I have seen the production of folks during the morning sessions and it doesn't hold up vs. days in which those things aren't served.

So yea, I am looking at it from a health angle

I am sure you have eaten a form of fried dough at some point as a closing to a meal.

But that is part of the point I am making. It is just so normalized as a breakfast item that thinking of it being placed where it should be sounds sacrilege.

muffins are not cakes.

cupcakes are cakes.

muffins are cupbread.

did you know churros are a breakfast item too?

Yep, I am sure there are some folks that eat churros for breakfast.

I would say the same thing about them as I said about other forms of fried dough.

Minus whale eat beignets for breakfast too.

I love churros, I knew it was breakfast like item/snack like a donut. But like the two you can eat that anytime of the day.

I want to give up red meat too wifey already did. She tried to convert me plenty of times but i failed every time.
You dont have to go cold turkey but you can limit it like I did. I eat it no more than 3 times a month and its never a large portion. Supplant it with more poultry, lost a good amount weight
