FOOD THREAD VOL. GRUB LIFE

Part 2 of the SD trip eats.
$1 Fish Tacos at Jalapeno in Otay Ranch
700

Friend has a ranch in the outskirts of TJ so we did a daytrip there. Chicharron from los calles :smokin
700

Elote at the ranch, before I slathered mayo and tajin on it. Best corn I've ever had
700

Chicago purged most of the Krispy Kremes so a dozen fresh glazed were definitely in order :evil
700

Ate at Hodad's, worth the hour wait. Had a Red Trolley. Pretty good Irish redhead
700

Disappointed in the milkshake... $6 for melted ice cream basically. No texture at all, it was just liquid ice cream...
700

But the double cheeseburger did more than make up for it. Was heavenly
700

And of course the Phil's BBQ that everyone mentions. Went there twice because the first time was an hour wait so I went back at 2-4 (empty). Felt like Frank Underwood in House of Cards cleaning a rack. And the sweet beans are my favorite. I might have someone freeze and ship me some babybacks and double double animal styles haha :p

Mama's is one of the most overrated spots I've been to...Not to offend you, but I just never saw what was so good about it.

I had french toast and crab benedict.

I feel like Ike's is more overrated than Mama's, though.

El Farolito though... :hat
Ikes is extremely overrated, but my boy works there, so I'm happy. How can I say no to two large sandwiches for $6? :lol

I love El Farolito...I never craved Mexican food before them, but I thoroughly enjoy it.

Did you finish the double at hodads? I almost finished it but it's just too much especially with all the condiments they had. Burgers are fire though.

Waterbar is dope, have had a holiday party there the last couple years.

Speaking of SF overrated, personally I think Tacolicious was exactly that.

Nice stuff Luong, maybe we need a GSW thread regulars dinner :lol

Still need to try waterbar. When do they have those $1 oysters?

There's still so many spots in SF I need to try but I hate going downtown where there's never enough parking or you gotta pay for it. Sometimes I'd rather drive the 30 mins to San Mateo on the freeway than 30 mins to a spot in SF driving city streets.

Yeah I finished the double, but I didn't eat anything beforehand and I was starving during the wait. It is a lot but definitely top 5 burgers for me.

Luong, nice pics.

Repped
Thanks!

my god those garlic noodles look awesome.
Best I've had!

Cali heads are really about that ramen life :lol

It looks delicious!
Japanese food, without a doubt, is my favorite.

Waterbar had such a nice view of the bay bridge, and the sunny weather was a plus.

Never tried tacolicious, but I'd much rather go to El Farolito and get cheaper (I think it's safe to assume it's cheaper) tacos.

$1 oysters is M-F, 1130-530 (somewhere along the lines of that). The fried green tomatoes were also really good.

I totally hate driving DT too, I normally park in the sunset and just hop on the muni. $2 each way > the frustration, endless circling, and paying $3.50/hour for parking.

Hype would die down after their second location opens. Next time try the Northern Italian m'omelette. Something about it makes me keep coming back.
