FOOD THREAD VOL. GRUB LIFE

Spent 30 bucks on these. Not a bad price. Stocking up on work snacks, it's gonna be a long november.

What is it about those that make them worth $15 a can?

Yea, I only get water so I naturally would always come out paying way more than what I ordered.

Give me my own check please.
Yeah the thing that used to set my bills into overdrive were the drinks vs now where I may not order any or 1 at most. I'm not gonna now pay for everyone's drinks unless that was the plan going in.

This. If the dining group includes alcohol drinkers and non-drinkers separate checks is definitely the most fair way to go because booze is costly.

If everyone is drinking (or everyone isn’t), I’m ok with the check being split evenly if it’s agreed to beforehand.

It can be awkward as hell if there’s no plan at the start and the group has to figure it out after the check comes.

Pretty much everyone I'm around and go out to dinner with are drinkers, so if we're going out, we're all having cocktails and wine and then splitting a bunch of apps and having similar priced entrees, so the even split is pretty normal when I do that.

If someone doesn't want to partake in that we'd obviously adjust accordingly. Wouldn't ever expect a non-drinker to pay what I'm paying. Also, if someone wants to buy some wild **** they are paying for that themselves too.

Separate bill son.

It changes with age and circumstances.

We rarely as friends are able to meet up anymore. When we do, and especially if our girls are there, we’re not really thinking all that much about the cost. Everyone has good etiquette and keeps the drinks to 1 or 2 (and some drink none) and we generally just split the bill for simplicity sake. Saving $10 bucks doesn’t matter much to anyone anymore in your 30s when you see each other once every few months.

On the other hand if it’s just the boys and we go out somewhere we’ll take the time to sort out who pays what. All we do is pass the receipt around and everyone figures out their own cost and throws it down in cash or venmo’s the person who ends up putting it all on the card.

You're right about age. I find myself in less and less group dinners with couples.

Even then, separate bills.
