"The bill targets food products that contain the substances brominated vegetable oil, potassium bromate, propylparaben or red dye 3. Red dye 3 is found in Skittles and other confectionaries like PEZ, Hot Tamales and Dubble Bubble gum, while brominated vegetable oil is normally concocted in citrus soft drinks."

LFG!!!!!!

That is GREAT news!!!!

nothing of value will be lost

I'd guess he or someone in his family has an allergy to red dye 3
Nah. It's just terrible. But to a larger point, the fact that someone is saying 'Do better, USA food industries. We're banning something the FDA won't'... I love it. There's all kinds of ish in foods processed in the States that isn't in the same item processed in other countries because they don't allow it. Look at like Quaker Instant Oatmeal here in the States compared to the same product in Australia or UK.

Are you all messing with me right now? 👀

I don’t wanna derail my thread with my thoughts but I hate being told we don’t even have a choice to have something, even if I don’t particularly care to have it. The list of “California sucks, you guys can’t even have ____” is growing. And it’s really irritating.

not disputing your feelings about being told what we can and can't do. but what else can't we do in CA that people can do in other states?

How do you expect pressure to be put on our food industry to do better?

I think it's unfortunate that you see it as you specifically you being told "You can't have this" as opposed to the makers being told "You can't serve that trash."

I understand your frustration, but I WANT my state to make the same move.

:/

California bans the most basic stuff. Like none of the equipment I use for work is allowed there.

The skittles thing I at least can understand.
