Does every burger place that becomes a franchise automatically get labeled fast food? [emoji]129300[/emoji]

At least shake shack and in N out cook their patties fresh on a griddle. That's all I care about. Shake shacks buns are still trash though

i dont think anyone is arguing innout isnt fast food, cause it is. :lol

swear dudes love to be contrarians tho

Said this before and I'll say it again... Before you guys bring In-N-Out into the discussion, don't forget that at the end of the day you're comparing Shake Shack to fast food.

Shake Shack isn't fast food? :lol

I always had the assumption if the burger spot has a drive-thru, its fast food.
And if you're given a pager when ordering inside, it's likely not fast food.

The In N Out stans will die for that trash.

I've noticed any time someone claims INO is trash is cause they compare it to a gourmet or non-fast food type burger.

Put it up against the likes of McDonald's, Wendy's or Burger King (or whatever other local fast food chains there are like Whataburger).... then compare em. That's all I'm sayin.

So Five Guys and Shake Shack are levels above In-N-Out? I'll take it! :D

.

Why do only burger spots get that luxury?

So take a spot like Chipotle. Is that fast food? They don't have drive-thru.

I think we are trying to change the idea of what fast food is.

If In-And-Out is Fast Food, there is no logical explanation as to why SS isn't.

Dont have ss here.

If u eat inside of a shake shack.......

Do you leave a tip?

So shake shack is a fast leisure/fast casual spot.

Like smash burger or panera.

There really isn't. :lol

I guess it could just be preference.

or is it based off if you tip after you eat or not? i know we didn't tip at SS afterwards. :lol

Chipotle is fast food.

yeah, pretty much.

could Chipotle be considered that as well?

And that's really all i was saying. Shake Shack, Smashburger, Fatburger? vs. INO, Tommy's, White Castle, etc...

In n out is a great burger for a great price.
Shake shack is a great burger but it's kinda pricey.
Halal Guys NYC is a great plate for a great price.
Halal Guys Los Angeles is a great plate but it's kinda pricey.
With that being said, these are all fast food places lol

Just curious on your thoughts on this topic...

Do you guys feel that the random "mom and pop" burger spot is better than any of the previously mentioned chains? :lol

There's a spot in Buena Park/Anaheim that i would frequent when i used to live in the area, but their burgers just seemed to be so much better than everything else. it would always be an option if we couldn't figure out a place to go.
I think their fries are what set them apart. Their fries were ridiculously good. :lol

I think, psychologically, we WANT to believe Mom's and Pop's spots are better than the chains. We tell ourselves they are more authentic, we tell ourselves they have fresher ingredients, and we tell ourselves that they taste better.

I am NOT saying that they do/don't, but I just feel people go out of their way to try to discredit chains.
