FOOD THREAD VOL. GRUB LIFE

Minus whale start buying your Mac now before the shells and pasta all gone from the shelves

Last year I was looking around for some and had none, I had to drive 30 minutes to a super white part of town and found a few boxes. I’m not joking.

Hit up Borough Market for lunch today

Wife wanted to try the creme brûlée doughnuts from Bread Ahead so we got one along with a salted caramel honeycomb doughnut. Creme brûlée one was OKAY, the other one wasn’t great as the honeycomb was virtually inedible:

Sausage roll from Ginger Pig was easily the best thing we ate there. Didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I did.

Ended things with da viral “best one” sandwich from The Black Pig. This was pretty good, but the honey truffle mayo tasted out of place. They could’ve just stuck to the salsa verde and pepper sauce. Glad I tried, but wouldn’t buy it again.

Gymkhana for dinner tonight.

Some 🍕 & 🥟 empanadas today. Went back to Andrew Bellucci's after first trying them out early last month. I had the white, regular & Margherita slices. As expected all of them were delicious. Some of the best pizza in Queens, NY in my opinion.

For the empanadas I had the spinach/cheese, guava/cheese,sweet plantain/cheese, tuna & Elvis(PB&J). Elvis & spinach cheese were the best. This spot is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. They have over 50 varieties.

Just had a big Mac for the first time in years and was pleasantly surprised. When did it become good? The sauce was hittin'

Have you tried it?
Is it good?
Been curious.

The orange 🍊 grape:emoji_grapes: and black cherry 🍒 are all :nthat:

Salted Caramel is their limited fall flavor :emoji_maple_leaf::emoji_fallen_leaf:🍃
Tastes like an elevated cream soda minus the food coloring and chemical bs 🍺

Overall service, ambiance, and drinks were great but the food left a lot to be desired. We felt a lot of the dishes were either bland or way too salty. The butter chicken tasted especially flat, which was upsetting considering how hyped up it is. A lot of people say this is some of the best Indian food in the world but I really don’t agree. We only genuinely liked a few of the dishes but thought the majority of what we had were duds. To put it in perspective me and my wife went through a list of restaurants we’d rather eat at and Cheesecake Factory beat Gymkhana . I fail to see how they earned 2 Michelin stars.

In other news, we did afternoon tea at Sketch today. This was pretty enjoyable. Definitely a quirky place but the food was good and it was a fun experience:

Also Texas bbq and white rice is amazing.
