FOOD THREAD VOL. GRUB LIFE

I seen a Japanese smoker in a IRL cooking show based off an anime that was about a Yakuza turned into a stay at home husband. It was a completely different contraption.

We both agreed this was easily the best meal we’ve had this year and a strong contender for best restaurant we’ve ever been to. If you’re visiting London and don’t have reservations to Akoko you’re ******* up royally. Unreal.

Yooo this looks fireeeee 🔥🔥🔥. I can smell the kebabs through the pictures 🤤. How was the rice & the hummus?

The lamb humus was okay (dry) - their regular hummus with tomato base - outstanding

The rice, exceeded my expectations. The Baghali and Shirin polo were the best.

Saffron Basmati Rice - not too buttery
Adas Polo - Lentil and Rasin
Baghali Polo - Fava Beans and Dill rice
Shirin Polo - Orange Zest, Barberry, Pistachio, and Almond rice

Went to London’s oldest restaurant last night for a Sunday roast dinner.

Chef’s counter at Humo for dinner tonight.

Saw this halal spot on a YouTube video recently in Elmont, Queens. Tried it out last night and it definitely banged. Some chopped cheese sandwiches, chicken kebab platter, combo platter, waffle fries, 12 piece tenders & spicy chicken sandwich. A lot of their Google & Yelp reviews people said they're portions are bigger then most of their competition and I can confirm they do not skimp.

Overall it was pretty good, but a few things rubbed me the wrong way. Crudo, salad, and dessert courses were shared plates but our seats were big and clunky and since we were side-sitting at the counter it felt like we had to reach too far in order to get to them. Would’ve been a lot better if they just halved the portions and gave us our own plates right in front of us. Also thought the scallop and lamb courses weren’t hot enough. Felt like they were just above lukewarm. This was easily the fastest service we’ve had for a tasting menu and neither one of us felt satiated upon leaving. Whole thing took an hour and a half, whereas most other tasting menus at this price point are generally 2.5-3 hours and fill you up pretty well. Any other time I’d feel like we got ripped off, but we’ve been eating crazy all week so we’re kind of over it at this point. Probably factored into my perception of the meal.
