Guardians of the Galaxy (Film) - 8/1/14 - Starring Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Benic

man we grew up in the 80's and turned out ok, with no movie ratings and watching a doll terrorize a kid for like 6 movies, a killer clown, a robot cop shooting dudes in the **** and all those other movies, whos idea was it to create ratings man!!!?

I really would not be surprised if this turns out to be a PG rated film, sadly. They want those kids to be buying them Rocket Raccoon and Groot figures.

But my guess is it'll be PG13.
I'd buy a Rocket Raccoon plush toy..... for.... my son.... future son.

Anyways, seeing this thread and trailer made me want to locate the damn comic.  Finally managed to track it down in one of my old comic boxes.  Never thought I'd see this on the big screen minus Adam.  Figured I'd share.

They have all been PG13 so far. So I think it is safe for me to say they know not to try that ****.

They need to stop making those figurines so expensive. There has been a few (non marvel) that I have wanted. Since I won't play with the toy I would be willing to spend a reasonable amount of cash on a well crafted statue/figure/movie prop replica.

I vaguely remember a report that GotG is supposed to more kid-friendly since it's an obscure group and they are trying to get as much of a younger viewer as they can. This is also why they are trying to get a GotG cartoon going too.

I'm just saying that if Marvel were to make one movie rated PG, this would be my guess.

Then they would be overestimating how many people really care about that PG-13 vs PG stuff. If anything they would be driving peoeple away. I have seen parents buy tickets for r rated movies for their kids and leave. It will be okay with a PG-13 rating.

If they want something child friendly they should stick to the cartoon

Ratings should be like TV ratings where they say what to watch out for. :smh: much better than me having to wait for the extended wolf of wall street because ******ed people think a guy eating a girl out is R but getting a blowjob is NC-17 (forgot what movie had that controversy) are in charge of the ratings system

I mean I am not arguing with you because in the end, the Avengers and IM3 were both PG13 and still made a billion each.

But I understand their reasoning, these are more obscure characters and they do not want to limit their audiences. There are still plenty of parents out there who simply would not let their children watch a PG13 movies especially if they aren't familiar with the character. I mean google Gamora and you see a scantily clad green woman.

Plus we live in sensitive America so again, I just wouldn't be surprised if it was PG.

Guilty of googling green women.

But on the topic of Gamora, i can't see someone nick named, "The Most Dangerous Woman in the Universe"..... in a PG film.  But like RFX says, I wouldn't be surprised.  Weirder things have happened.

They're just not going to call her that, I mean Teen Titans cartoons never calls Deathstroke by that name, they always call him Slade because the word "death" wasn't kiddy enough.

Than "death", my guess is yes.

"Most Dangerous" actually isn't so bad.

I think when it comes to destruction, it is all good. When it comes to sex and killing and cussing is when they draw the line and they have to be very careful. Like blood for example, as long as you do not see it, you get a PG13. You can stab and slash and shoot anyone as much as possible but as long you do not see blood as it penetrates the body, then you are good. Kind of like softcore porn, as long as they do not actually show anything going in to anything, then it can be show as softcore.

Most of those are all guesses though so don't shoot me if I am wrong.

In an invterview video I think it was Gunn but someone called her that. So they know that's what she is when filming the movie

I personally think they're main target is teens to people in their 20s. Strictly because those two groups are the one most interested in movies like this.

I think it will be marketed for younger audiences but be more fun for the older audiences. Mostly because boys tend to be the majority of people watching these films apart from the most recent 3 (IM 3, Thor TDW, and Avengers)

Disney gets a lot of its revenues from merchandising. Young boys buy the action figures and toys. Older guys don't. Whereas females tend to buy tie-in merchandise regardless of age as long as they really like the film. For this film to break even it will likely need to make $300-400M. Studios only keep half the box office revenues. They are really betting a lot on this movie.

I think Marvel will try that bait and switch where it is marketed to children but fun for adults.

I blame it on transformers1. In that movie it kinda worked, every other movie, it's head shaking worthy :smh:
