HBO's Series: Game of Thrones (4/17, 9:00-10:05 p.m. ET/PT)

A little tidbit too if you didn't read the books you would not realize that the sword that the executioner used was actually Ned's sword Ice.  He uses it in the beginning of the season to execute the guy who deserted the Nights Watch.

I did not know so many people had grown that attached to Ned.

I have not watched the episode but did they show that Sansa was partly responsible for Ned's head being cut off? She ran to Cercei and told her about Ned's plan to leave King's landing.
%!#$$ wanted to stay with her Prince and indirectly sent her dad to the grave by revealing his plans to the enemy.

Ned was stupid for not telling Sansa that the Lannisters were suspect from the very beginning. I was attached to dude early as well but I almost grew indifferent with all his stupid decisions.
I don't recall that happening.  You didn't really see much of Sansa in the episode until the final scene and I don't think she said anything directly to Cercei.  The way it was depecited on the show, the decision to have Ned offed was 100% Joffrey.  Although it all went down in a matter of moments, Circei seemed to be very much against Ned being killed.

well yeah the cutting off of the head was all my dude joff

but the starks would have been long gone via a boat on the sea on their way to winterfell...Ned WAS planning to leave
he told sansa to pack up cause they were getting out of there...sansa then snitched to cercei cause she did not want to leave...that is why cercei immediately summoned ned and dude was put in a dungeon

of course, sansa did not know that the lannisters were shady cause she was in love with joff
and ned did not expect his daughter to be a snitch

I think that is a big thing not to reveal in the show cause it makes sansa feel more remorse

^^^ Yeah, I don't think that plot line quite made it in the series. I remember Ned telling the girls they were going to leave King's Landing and Sansa being upset about it, but that was before King Robert died after Ned had stepped down as hand of the king. Once Robert was dying, that plan went out the window. In the show, I felt like Ned ended up in the dungeon mainly because Littlefinger back-stabbed him.

yeah littlefinger betrayed him but if sansa had not snitched I think ned would have had more time to scheme and more options

even if it was not a big factor as littlefinger's betrayal it is more ammunition to hate sansa
