How is not having a COVID vaccine that is safe and effective not possible given the time frame and resources allocated to it? I would like to think science advancement is used for the greater good of society. But I may be bias

This is the culmination of hundreds of years of scientific and medical advances. The first vaccine (for smallpox) was found in 1796 and the disease was eradicated in 1978. But before that, inoculations were performed as far back as 1000 years ago.

It's humbling to think about all the discoveries and technology that have gone into the rapid development of a vaccine for covid-19. This pandemic may have been an accident, but the one-year turn-around time to a vaccine is not.

It's going to be a while before it gets around to everyone

"First round" is kind of misleading, depending on your definition. I believe you're referring to the initial shipment? As expected, initial doses will start off slow and rapidly increase as production ramps up, and will increase exponentially as other vaccines are approved and produced as well.

The U.S. government expects the number of available doses to increase in January to about 60 million to 70 million.

500k followers have to be doing $200k a month to name drop.

Yeah, if all goes to plan there should be steadily increasing shipments coming every couple weeks thereafter.

Mostly bad news here. Now that we've had some time to correct for the Thanksgiving backlog, it's clear that deaths are still increasing rapidly. We're almost averaging 2000 per day, which is double what we say in the summer peak and now close to the peak in the spring with no signs of slowing down. Cases are up only slightly, but notice that testing is still down from its peak 1-2 weeks ago.

The one positive is that cases in the Midwest are coming down. Whether the Thanksgiving Day recklessness will reverse that is to-be-determined.

Things will move fast. For example, I heard northwell health will only have 48 hrs notice from Pfizer before they receive the vaccines
