Yea it's bizarre to me. If every single person gets the same amount on strings attached, and they still have the freedom to earn whatever they can, how is it socialist.
The baseline is just slightly raised from $0 to a little over $20,000 a year. An extra 20,000 a year can be extra handy for times when someone gets laid off, and it's not enough to just sit back and stop working
same people afraid of socialism in the USA, are the same people who are not outraged by corporate socialism. it is just a bad train of thought thinking some kind of change is not needed.

the USA system of operating is archaic and it is being shown to the world. not sure how some people still feel the same after this disaster.

your headshops still open? i broke my bowl and have one paper left, been smoking bongs for a few days now, saving that last paper.

9/11 indirectly changed my address. Long story short, parents was looking to buy a house in jersey. But 9/11 changed the real estate market so we stayed in ny instead.

Remains to be seen how the pandemic will change my life down the road, but I'm sure it's coming.
I know for damn sure After all this is done I’m trying to get out of NY ASAP.
Real estate prices can come down all they want.

the same goes for universal health care?

Universal health care would be a failure for different reasons. Most importantly, who would run it? Our inefficient government? We can’t trust those fools to do ANYTHING right! Even if they somehow agreed on a way to make it work, you now have over 300 million people with access to the current health system that is designed to handle far less, which will lead to shortages (not unlike the current situation). Shortages of equipment can be overcome with production, but shortages of quality healthcare workers cannot. If there’s one thing we know about government health care programs, it’s that they are only willing to pay pennies on the dollar for care and meds. This will not be an incentive for citizens to go into that field to be overworked and underpaid. It will lead to more generic drugs being outsourced to China and India. It’s no coincidence that outsourcing of drugs has exploded since Obamacare became law and now we are in such a mess because of it. Universal heath care is not a dream, it’s a nightmare.

Ehhh for a ton of Americans they gonna disagree with that statement right there

No lié this would be dope as hell and would have the economy bumping and people much more happy and stress free...will never happen tho
If there’s one thing I learned in economics class, it’s that increased household income leads to increased consumption. Sounds good on the surface, but artificially inflating income in what’s already the richest nation in the world would lead to incredible inflation. That $1,200 would end up being the price of a Big Mac!
