HOW MATERIALISTIC ARE YOU NT!?

There's only one kind of material I really want: cars. Clothes, shoes, houses, I'm content with what people would consider "average" or "above average" (still stylish though, at least in my eyes - big fan of Nike/Under Armour, both of which are brand name but relatively cheap). But cars, I plan to own the best ones that I like and have a solid collection (around 10 or so).

For me, they are my way of knowing that I've made it. Ever since I was a kid I've wanted/dreamed about having nice cars, and growing up I was and still am not wealthy enough to afford any kind of car, let alone a nice one. Also, I am a huge speed demon and you just can't go flying everywhere in cheap cars - they aren't made for that.

Without cars as a way to know I've reached my ideal level of success, I have no other indicator, and one of my greatest fears is to live contently. I'm very happy with my life now, but I also live with my parents, and have never held a salary-paying job. The cars will provide motivation and a dream to strive for.

I'm not a fan of showing off. It feels good for about 20 minutes then it gets very annoying. I'm also a quiet guy by nature so the attention makes me feel uncomfortable. My chase for materials is to prove to myself that I've made it, not for anyone else to judge and take advantage of.

Yo sOn u are really smart for you age my dude. Judging form a collection of your post on threads that interest me, we are very similar in thought process and I'm 23. But anywho I cosign this to the fullest. Cars are my thing every sincE I was little. It's so bad that cars are really the only thing that keeps my sanity. If you like cars like that peep speedhunters.com absolutely the best car blog. Also I wouldn't say I'm not materialistic I would say I'm just conscious of the finer things in life. I drive a 350z bit dude you just dont know how many times a day I think about a gtr and that Zonda R. That to me is the sign that I made it because cars are my passion and they are expensive. With that said mOney if a hard to come by. Less than 10% of Americans make over 100k a yr and less than 30% of that 10% are black. So if you can acquire one of those prestigious cars you genuinely desire it. That alone speaks for your hustle. Like seeing pharrell in his Enzo dude pharrell been in the game for a minute and has worked with almost Any artist you fan think of. So yeah he deserves that right to be materialistic. So in a nutshell I am but not. It gives me something to live for and keeps me focused on my goals. To each his own. I swear I will never own a sedan/sub unless I'm a family and at that is will still be a spots car like an evolution 10 or 4 door M3. I'm allergic to anything else but couPes.

I've really put in work and emphasis on not being materialistic in the past 2-3 years of my life, and I'm slowly starting to get to that point where money and possessions aren't what make me happy, but rather things like the friendships/relationships that I establish with people around me, the impacts that I make in other people's lives, the hobbies and passions that I'm into (which, admittedly, can be costly at times), and just general intangible things that give me a sense of happiness. I'm not quite there yet, and there's a lot of times when I worry too much about my appearance, and about having the latest gadgets/cool things just to impress people, but I'm starting to care less and less about that, and already really made me feel better about life

And to answer the question. I am VERY materialistic. I strongly believe along with my girlfriend, friends, and family, my TV, computer, cell phone, PS3, PSP, etc. are my gateways to happiness. I even feel like I even plan on getting myself a new car and tablet soon and don't believe I will be completely happy until then.

Nice try.

Well no, it wasn't. Poor effort.
Your not saying anything though. You never do.
What about my statement wasn't true?

the theory of materialism holds that the only thing that exists is matter; that all things are composed of material and all phenomena (including consciousness) are the result of material interactions.

I dont have a lot of material things, mostly because Im broke. I appreciate and value all the finer things in life however, if I had the money to afford a lot of expensive things I wouldnt really have that many material things. I like to keep things simple, but at the same time have some quality items.

All in all I just want a 458 Italia and an iPhone and my own apartment and some South Beach/Christmas LeBron VIIIs. Then I would be good.

This too. If I were to blow my money, it would be on good times with people that I love and care about, rather on things.

I'd have to respectfully disagree with this, or at least in my perspective disagree. I think that by setting a financial goal of having a really expensive car and viewing that as "making it"... it just seems like such an empty goal in life to me. Using money to measure how much success you have had in your life seems futile to me

But before an argument starts I think it's fair to say we'll never agree on this, to each their own I suppose
