If You Are Looking for/Interested In Working With The Federal Government...Come In. Positions Availa

AF Pathways is pretty good, I did that one.

Man the supervisors can be racist AF. I'm getting flown to Boston to do an interview on Monday just seeing what they are talking about (internal position).

Pray for me I hate racist Boston thats where I did my Pathways internship at.

Great advice, I needed to read this to motivate myself to acquiring a new gig.

You still down in the 757? Tell Barry to get busy! :smokin:smokin:smokin

Man I'm down in the A now, lemme know if you got the plug down here :nerd:

757 jobs are growing with some new corporate agreements like ADP. The military wont have the stronghold on that area's economy for too long (I hope).

Sounds good but who knows lol that's why I got outta there. If you're not military, a vet or in the shipyard, it can be hard to find something meaningful.

I'm applying everywhere. I applied to a position in North Dakota last night

Cool. Are you applying to govt contractor companies too?
I don't think so. I've applied for jobs on usagov and I'll go to the usda site to apply for jobs there.

Inform of this other option :nerd:

Superzat? For IT? I can probably get you on here
It was for a business but if you can be me a interview in IT I can tailor my fed resume to it. Took some computer science classes during undergrad.

Govt contractor companies do the work for the government and you get a higher salary.

What people don't like is that your group could lose the contract that you are working on. Some companies place you on another contract, some just let you go.

If you are valuable and have great skills you should be fine, coupled with a good clearance you really have no worries.

Some govt contractor companies are better than others. Personally I'd never touch Booz Allen , Accenture, or Deloitte .

List of some top companies :

Northrop Grumman , BAE,  Lockheed Martin , Booz Allen ,Boeing , Raytheon , Deloitte, Accenture , L3 , General Dynamics , Leiodos , Mitre ,etc

Good looks on the info. I remembered the term pathways but nothing other than that. Other than applying for internships for Google and Deloitte, I'm just trying to get my foot in the door somewhere, willing to quit my gig for a paid internship that could turn into a full time or contract position.lol

Good luck to everybody tryna make moves

It be like that....I went on a job tryout in Aniston, AL for FEMA and the job they offered me was in Santa Clara, CA (despite them having an opening in Herndon, VA like 15 minutes from where I live).

GOVT is *** backwards. Get used to doing strange stuff and getting paid to do it.

out of curiosity, how come?

the people that i know that work (or worked) for Booz Allen, and Deloitte say they worked a ton, but the pay was not bad (in their words)...

Those are consulting companies their main focus is consulting, which is a job a lot of people can do.

They will work you to death then let you go and move on to the next person, because you are dispensable 9 times out of 10.

They don't care about their employees , from what I have seen and heard from friends who worked for these companies.

In this area pretty much everybody (govt contractors) pays well, if you aren't getting paid well its because you messed up during salary negotiations or just took whatever they offered you. I have an easy job lol I am never working a single hour over 40 , if that . Getting paid very well .

I was turning down companies left and right trying to get over and offer me 50-55K , I'm sure they got some suckers with those salaries .

Consulting companies are a rat race I want no part of. Doing a ton of work just to possibly be let go .

Just to add on to this, since I was specialized in IT Services/Cyber and Federal Procurement. I've awarded multimillion dollar contracts and helped companies win them. $44.5M WHS IASS for VG (Vienna, VA) was a large win for them.

I used to work at WHS as a Contract Specialist. It's a huge world but a very very small space. Just pay attention, handle your business and figure out your priorities. I based mine on quality of life. Easy commutes, low stress, chill environment, cool location and then money. There is not a huge difference between $105,000 and $120,000. Not worth 3 hours of my day driving at least, or getting out of shape, not watching/playing basketball or sleeping with my girlfriend(s).

Contracting companies (BAH, Lockheed, NG, Raytheon, Leidos, SAIC are all large government contractors that essentially are Govt Agencies as they operate the same organizationally). I would find the smaller Govt Contractors (small 8(a) preferably, Minority Owned, Woman Owned etc.) You can look up these companies and see what Contract Vehicles they have on their websites and/or GSA (e-Buy, other procurement tools). The smaller contractors are better to work at, IMO, because they allow you to do multiple things (pricing, proposals, contracts, finance and if you make yourself stand out/useful you will never have to worry about a Contract's Option Year not being exercised.

Here is how Contracts work. They are awarded with a Base Year and potentially Option Years (usually at least 2 but never more than 4. A Base & 4 Option Years is the normal contract structure but that obviously varies depending on products/services/agencies/KO/Department Policy/Funding/etc.
