not sure if this is a stupid question or not, I have a 1st generation 16gb that i just downloaded the new 2.0 software the other day, app store has been morethen friendly as well as the new AIM app which is sooooooo much better then jivetalk, anyways, am I still able to unlock the phone if I choose to perhaps sellit to a friend or is that what others were referring to a few pages back, that the software to unlock the 2.0 should be available very soon and not possible atthis present time ?

Yeah, the dev team is on the verge of releasing their new tool that unlocks and jailbreaks the iphone 3g as well as 1st gen iphones on 2.0 software

I have a Coca-Cola discount on my account (

) and ever since I boughtthe first iPhone, I haven't been getting anything off my bill. I have a family plan with my girl and the discount doesn't even come off the voice planor her stuff. My account still shows that it's a Coca-Cola account though. Does this mean the 3G iPhone can get discounts? Cause I miss that 27% off...

I doubt it as well. There have been rumblings that the chips are currently being developed, but I'm honestly good with 16GB as I only keep about 4 or5GB music on my iPhone and rotate things and out.

^Yeah exactly, I've got a 80 GB iPod Classic for long-term use / library / car...that thing lasts me days without recharging

My iPhone has just a few playlists/albums/songs that I feel like listenin' to now.

Thanks for the iToner advice, worked well.

Anybody know a good car charger / FM transmitter that works well and has good audio output with the iPhone...my iTrip ain't cuttin' it anymore.

Does your car have a AUX jack in it? Because if you do you can just buy a cord to connect your audio jack on your iphone directly to the car.

Yes, iPhone 3G is eligible for discount but some are claiming just voice while others are voice/data. I wish I could get my hands on some kind of Master listof employer discounts.

My car doesn't have an AUX jack in...it's a 2003 Acura TL 3.2...stock Bose system. It has a 6 CD changer and a tape deck, but I don't want a tapeadapter. I'd like the car-charger/FM transmitter combo so I can charge the iPhone in the whip as well.

Top of next week

18th of July 2008. We have been in contact with the member of the dev-team. Dev-team is the most famous team out there working on iPhone. The news is half good and half bad. The good news first. The good news is that dev-team will release a new version of their infamous PwnageTool. The new version number is 2.0 and the release will happen in the beginning of next week. The good part continues: the tools will do all the magic for 1st generation iPhones upgraded to 2.0 firmware. It will jailbreak, activate, enable 3rd party apps with Installer, enable Apple AppStore and also it will unlock the iPhone. That IS really good news!

That is all what 1st generation iPhone owners could wish for. Now the sad part. The magic does not fully expand to the new hardware - iPhone 3G. The news is not completely bad. The new tool will do some magic for iPhone 3G as well. It will jailbreak, activate, enable 3rd party apps with Installer and enable Apple AppStore. Thats it. As you no doubt have noticed the magic will not cover the Holy Grail of iPhone hacking - the unlock for iPhone 3G.

According to our source (member of the dev-team) they have faced some difficulties patching the new baseband of iPhone 3G. Baseband patch of the modem is necessary to be able to use any SIM cards with the phone. But, our source was confident that they will be able to SIM unlock the new iPhone 3G sooner or later. Well, after all, the new hardware has been available only for a week. With the first generation iPhones it took three month before the first true software unlock was released by www.iphonesimfree.com. Today the community has so much more information available about both iPhones. Therefore we all hope that this time it will be a lot faster.

But whatever happen we will keep you posted.

Unfortunately, Apple does not have the full capability to view an account as would an AT&T store is the only logical explanation I could think of. This stipulation was a major reason why I just decided to go to an AT&T store and cop my iPhone 3G.

Another question...I've got a 1st gen 1.1.4 unlocked iPhone...if I connect to iTunes to get free apps...will it brick my phone?

Not updating software/firmware to 2.0, but will it let me browse and download the free apps I can't get through Installer / Cydia?

Thanks
