Iron Man 3 (Movie Thread)-05/03/13 - New Trailer pg12 - Suits on Suits on Suits

RDJ not returning for Iron Man 4 but still open to do Avengers 2 :rolleyes

He did make $50mil in the first Avengers and with re-negotiations, like I said before, it isn't so far fetch for RDJ to net $80-$100mil for Avengers 2 since at this point, the franchise is an easy $1,5bil box office cash cow.

I believe RDJ got paid $500k for iM1 and ~$12mil for IM2. IM3 is probably in the ~$20mil range (need to look this up) so 1 Avengers film is already much more than those 3 IM films.

and apparently he made $50mill for IM3

RDJ will play iron man till he's in a wheel chair as long as Disn---I mean Marvel keeps throwing the money.

Did he? I thought they were just talking about Avengers, has it been confirmed? I haven't seen any report on IM3 yet.

Question is will they? Seems like a smart and logical move but studios doesn't always see it that way. I still believe money was the main factor why Spiderman was rebooted, Tobeyw as going to make $20-$30mil for each SM4 & SM5 (I believe they were going to shoot it at the same time) along with a back end deal (similar to RDJ) and Dunst isn't too far along with Raimi making bank as well. SM3 sucked but still made close to $900mil in the box office lust merchandising and dvd sales, that is an easy $1bil franchise.

In the reboot Garfield got paid $500k, Emma Stone might be similar or less being a female and got a new director that cost a lot less. Sony saved a lot by doing a reboot.

Work comp has those links blocked but google Robert Downey Jr. It should be the first 2 links

i agree that pepper shoulda died.

i aint think dark knight was all that cuz i really wanted at least one of the boats to blow up at the end.

i also think it woulda been more impactful if the hospital woulda blew up while people were still in it.

was the purpose of threatening to blow up a hospital when its empty.

smh.

Results are only talking about his possibility of leaving and they just mention $50mil for Avengers, not IM3. Not sure if I am just missing something though.

I have conflicted emotions about this flick
Gwenyth Paltrow ( ending sorry with that body she could get it)
Felt movie was very political as in the state of current affairs we are facing( death by oil line)
Making iron patriot go to middle eastern countries instead of war machine
Did fan service with suits
I am confused as to extremist being a drug
Slap in the face to true ironman fans( I am not) but the whole mandarin plot smh
Why didnt shield know anything about this
Happy hogan turns to a enemy of ironman
So no ironman for avengers 2
Overall decent but just to all over the place
Edit: now I get extremis and why people are so mad about the mandarin, smh

Man as an Iron Man fan these last two movies have been hard to stomach.

Its the gift and the curse. We want our heroes brought to life on the big screen. Making movies like that costs lots of money. In order for a movie company to pour that much movie into project they have to make it appeal to too many demographics.

Its sad, 3 was better than 2 though :\

Saw it tonight, I enjoyed it but they obviously ****** up some major things like making the Mandarin an actor and parts of the Extremis story. Disappointed that 2 movies in a row they basically wasted some great actors (Mickey and Ben) to some easily disposable villains. They twist was ok imo but if that was the decision, they should have just used another villain instead of Mandarin, Iron Man's arch nemesis. If they would have used a lesser villian, I don't think us Marvel fans would be so mad or disappointed. Also just like TDKR didn't have enough Batman, IM3 didn't have enough Iron Man. We are going to these comic book movies to see them as the heroes in costume, not to see them as Bruce and Tony for 2/3 of the film.

The CGI looked amazing in this film and the action scenes with the armor were awesome, should have been more of that. The armor looked great when they finally appeared, some of them should have been brought out sooner. Was really surprised to not see more of the deep space armor with all the toys and leaked pics of them. RDJ was hilarious and I liked the scenes with the kid for the most part, nice to see a different side of his character. Guy Pearce was a really good villain, happy he's been getting some roles in some bigger films recently. A+ decision on having Pepper in the sports bra, she looked fantastic. At this point, I'd just be happy to see RDJ and Iron Man just in Avengers 2 or 3, don't need a new IM for a while.

Overall I'd give it a 6.5-7/10

the movie was great. the conclusion came about entirely too quickly but great story told nonetheless

Meh. Movie went full tard and it was aware of it, because it kept reminding us "nothing's the same since NY". Had nothing to do with extremis or mandarin storylines either. Weird movie. Cool stuff happened though.

Actually, that's not a bad idea from a marketing standpoint. Would he want to though?

8o They should want to distance themselves from Affleck's Daredevil as much as possible. :lol

Hell, Affleck's whole career now is forgetting everything after Good Will Hunting and before Gone Baby Gone. :lol

Stop it.

Where is your review of IM3? 8o

Where is your review of IM3? 8o

I just....I dunno.

I remember last year, being just about the only one explaining how The Avengers was really not that great, and how basically all of the Marvel movies have been decent at best, so now that suddenly everyone's switching teams...I just pulled back from making a big *** Told You So review.

It was what it was, which is a regular Marvel movie. They really are, all the same. Just different flavors. And they're all more or less the same stretch between being too upbeat and popcorn for it's own good, and having just enough really good, grounded ideas, that you can feel the better movie it wanted to be, always. Half a step or so up from a Transformers thing, with a few, great, disconnected moments scattered around.

That's about it.

I don't know what people expected. There will never be a Marvel TDK, because that's not the type of movie they ever want to make.

They do darkness with the floodlights on. *shrug*

I haven't seen it yet, I think the fam is going tomorrow for Mother's day tho. Hopefully it's not as bad as everyone says.

Let your anger flow. :lol

I see your point, and I know what you've been saying, but I thought Avengers at least was a step above this type film. Cap and IM2 didn't have much darkness, but Thor had a little in it, and IM 1 and Hulk certainly had a smidge, but I agree with your darkness/floodlight analogy. Wholeheartedly.

Is that Disney? Or just a lack of Nolan on Marvel's side? Because we know Bats was, and Supes appears to be on that same plane, is that the Nolan effect, or are DC comics just that much darker than Marvel comics?
