Rap seems like it's all under the trap umbrella because most producers have that trap sound nowadays.

Da only NEW NY rapper thats good is David East & he's basically a Vado 2.0..
Welcome back.
BUT this comment is wild disrespectful Ninja, Vado tho?
Vado is no where close to East, lyrically, sonically, substance, story telling, etc. it's not even close b.
A better comparison would be Stack Bundles, definitely not Vado, and Vado is my homie
He swiped not bad but I was never a fan of simp music. Not saying u a simp tho and seeing how I got a girl I don't really cut on the new **** that ******* like. Point in my life, hey i, and truth hurts the kinda slow rap **** I like. I heard that exchange song and quickly turned it off.^^^Repped. Even though I can't stand Uzi, Scott, or Yachty...you get it.
Also, I forgot to add Tiller on my list. He may not be "rap"....but that ****** will guide you to the P easily.

I swear y'all think I be playing, my girl hate that kinda music too. Idk who it was and she told me it was him then said she hate the song then power of turned it. She really hate all soft "rap". She hate drake, hated honest era future. Crazy Cuz her phone 80% 90s R&B 10% 2000-2016 R&B and the rest is prime gucci, future etc. Her new favorite joint is Lil uzi- quesoWill....smoke something, drink something....whatever your vice is....and play Exchange with your girl around and vibe out to it.
I guarantee you'll fkc with it......and your girl will pull a new trick out. GUARANTEE
Dave East seems to be en route to making it if he drops his "breakout" mixtape this year (a la So Far Gone, Acid Rap, etc.) and it has a few big records on it.Dave East sounds like J. Cole with a Felony record..i mean ive seen this story a million
Times, at this point unless u blatantly
Counterfeiting da south, roll wit a already
Established Clique, or got a social media gimmick then
Idk how real rap wins in this climate anymore...
Tory Lanez good for this too.^^^Repped. Even though I can't stand Uzi, Scott, or Yachty...you get it.

Music today lacks substance....at least what's being pushed. Other than "new" cats Cole, Kendrick, Krit, and a few others, and the OG vets, there's really no lyrcisim and it's all about takin somebody's girl, what kinda drugs they sell/use, how them or their homies keep a tool and will kill you, or how many *******/money they have. I don't really care about that.
I never understood this argument though rap's been about those things for like 20 years now but whateverThisMusic today lacks substance....at least what's being pushed. I'm pretty sure NWA, Tupac, and Biggie were pretty straight forward about their messages in regards to women, drug dealing, drinking, smoking, rolling with the musket, etc.. People love to over think this **** let us cook BIts not whats said but how its said. Dudes back then were just better lyricist rapping bout similar subjects. So i understand what he sayingI never understood this argument though rap's been about those things for like 20 years now but whatever
Go get y'all rocking chairs and listen to epmd old ******. Let us have fun and enjoy what's new and eventually wait for rap to morph again and see what's new.

I never said that's all they talked about but did they not talk about those things in a good amount of their songs? Obviously their delivery was much different than most rappers now. I do agree that they were better lyricists for sure but the subject matter is still mostly the same outside of songs that touched base on "serious matters" (Brenda's got a baby, Keep ya head up, etc).So you don't think it's destructive to the community?Go get y'all rocking chairs and listen to epmd old ******. And here is the beautiful irony. No that's not ALL they talked about. And this is not ALL a lot of the artist today you hear talk about. You might hear the most popular song from them, and quickly dismiss them and draw a conclusion. People could easily do that with Biggie, Pac or NWA.
Like if I grew up on 80s rap and heard biggie for the first time on the radio, I'd say all he talks about is Versace, partying, selling drugs and killing people. These are the very same conclusions that you, and a lot of the other close minded old hip hop people have when discussing some of today's rappers.
But they very clearly had some very direct lyrics about mysoginy, killing people, selling drugs etc. I love biggie...but he was talking about raping kids b. Raping kids . NWA might be the most mysogonist group of all time. No that's not ALL THEY RAP ABOUT, but they do rap about it.
Like you laughed when I made a comparrison to old Boosie and Tupac. But I can guarantee that you never took the time to actually listen to the lyrics of the hundreds of Songs Boosie has with depth and substance. Or Future, or any of the newer artist. Who you think all they rap about is "blah" "blah" blah"
