Our US society is crumbling from the inside out. The only reason it takes a while is because we built the best infrastructure over the past 50 years and our belief in government is still very strong. But literally we’re able to take no steps forward these days in any meaningful way whether it is the general baselines of a normal citizen or as a country. The 2100s going to be an interesting time.

Our belief in government hasn't been strong since the days of Reagan, or no party campaigning on the message that they won't govern would be viable in this country. We're only noticing now how dire things are because it takes time to notice the full extent of the impact of policies.

I mean strong in the sense that most people in the country still believe that we have a working one. We are arguably the most stable country in the world regardless of all the flaws. Not meaning this to mean it’s perfect by any stretch i’m just saying compared to the rest of the world most Americans (obviously not all) wake up in the morning not thinking of volatility in their day to day life. Having spent a lot of time outside the US this innate stability we have is something a lot of places don’t have. It’s a foundation / bedrock vs quicksand. Just my perspective YMMV.

We are arguably the most stable country in the world regardless of all the flaws.

That's very, very debatable.

When it comes to regional/political integrity, we're closer to Yugoslavia than we are to any of our European allies. We have numerous movements that seriously flirt with the idea of secession (militias actively training), the current president doesn't trust his own close guard (Secret Service), the judicial and legislative branches are visibly divided and show no desire to work together, and numerous members of the current government continue pushing the idea that recent elections are untrustworthy and defending folks who tried to use political machinations and violence to overturn the 2020 election.

I see it differently. I think most Americans live in denial about the state of the citizenry. They actively avoid looking at or talking about the absurdity of a George Santos getting elected in the "greatest democracy in the world," or the absurdity of police being above the law, or the absurdity of an insurance company denying doctor-mandated procedures because it'll cost too much, or the absurdity of buying and selling prison stock.

For most of us, it's just easier to not think about all this nonsense than to look up and try to change things.

From a purely tribal perspective we have stability compared to others.

The most you can do is take your child's devices while they are at home but I don't think you can't keep your child off Social Media.

If they want to do it while you are not with them, they will.

I set up a whole entire different IG dedicated to photography & went out my wat to not follow any of the bartenders/strippers/OF type chicks because i know how it ****s up the algo.

Since starting it i'm sure i've followed pretty women on the account, but still the explore page still has an uneven balance (although i will say it's MUCH better than my OG IG explore page)

This. I don’t try to keep my son away from social media, but rather continually talk to him about doing it responsibly and that there’s a lot more important things than getting likes on the Internet. I’m sure I sound like a broken record sometimes, but I think it’s had some effect.
