It could embroil Iran in a war that would mean that Iran would be hardly capable of sending more weapons to Russia, and of course, it could engulf Russian troops in Syria and Lebanon in a possible escalation of this conflict into a regional one which stretches their military thin.

Overall, Netanyahu looking to have the international community focus on Israel versus Iran, where he can garner more sympathy compared with Israel versus the Palestinians.
