Honestly, I’m shocked that there isn’t more backdooring going on. Knowing that there are people out there who are paying $2-300 more above retail for a pair, why wouldn’t I just sell these to a reseller and save my employees from the hassle? Just run a fake IG raffle on release day, enjoy the free advertising while I count my money. Might as well make some coin off of FOMO.
I get it. I really do. I would just rather stores be more upfront about it than making me feel like I have a chance lol

pairs are definitely being backdoored. Some big name chain stores have already started receiving stock, and not just mom and pop stores. Managers will sell some pairs and then come release day, scan them in as release day purchases. Whose going to come check? You think Nike sending 100 pairs shipment to a Finishline in bumbleweed America and then sending an undercover employee to check if the store kept all 100 pairs for release day?

And besides, most reseller/consignment shops have started getting people bring them in to consign, you think ALL these shops going to push fakes and ruin reputation by the box load? I get that these shops are not 100% perfect at detecting fakes and some slip through. But to let a whole box (or more) in and have them be fake and bought by people and assume that no one is going to detect it or do their due diligence?

Most IG raffles are a complete scam. Ain’t no stores inputting every IG SN into a computer to do a randomized draw. If it’s not a fake draw, they’re choosing people who have a large amount of followers.

Who is to blame, Nike or the people that say they are willing to pay whatever to get a pair. Wasn’t nobody paying more than $20-$30 over retail 15-20 years ago. Now look, StockX and Goat pretty much run the market because people have no resilience

It’s all the clout chasing, as well as the commodifying of shoes. Lot of noobs in here only buy shoes when they have high resale values. It’s not about the shoes or wanting to be like Mike anymore. It’s about owning something rare or expensive.

Say what?!?!

I bought a 2001 Honda Accord around 2004/2005 from reselling shoes (SB's, Jordans, Dunks, etc.), before it was a thing.

Folks were definitely paying way over retail.

You weren't there.

I was definitely there, sounds like 🧢

You could get any Jordan you wanted for around $200 or less.

^ reseller talk 😕🤦🏿‍♂️

Early 2000's reseller talk is different than modern day.

I simply had access to boutiques, before boutiques and sneaker stores were everywhere/nationwide. When eBay was one of the few online places to get kicks. Way different today.

I was simply helping others around the country and world get shoes they couldn't. 🤷‍♂️

My man...Countdown packs came out in the late 2000's. (*Wow dude edited his post after the fact    ).

I'm talking early 2000's. The early SB's, 1999 4's, rare Dunks, etc.

You literally just made that up. Why.

Flight Club’s been around since 2005. There are, and always have been, shoes reselling for way more than $30 over retail.

You need to understand and accept the fact that some people who like sneakers got way more money than you. For these people $300 or even $3000 over retail ain’t sh*t. Truly. When a product is in high demand but low supply it goes to those willing to pay the most. Quit tryna disprove the laws of economics you wasting your time

Yes they were. I was a regular on the Sole Collector Buy/Sell and prices were above retail then too.

Yeah they were. Vino hit it on the head. My store, we had a handful of dope boy regulars that would come in at closing time a night or two before release. Gave my manager an extra $50-$100 a pair, he'd put the cash in the empty boxes, give them the shoes in a bag, and scan the boxes right before he opened the gates on release day. Now granted, this was just a couple of pairs per release and not the whole stock room, but dudes were absolutely paying big money in the late 90's-early 2k's to have stuff a couple of days early.

Maybe I just wasn’t going after what y’all considered hyped. But I do know I bought an extra pair of 2001 Concords worn once for $150 off SC. Bought a pair of Olive 9s for $80 on InStyleShoes and Black tongue Fire Red 5s deadstock on eBay years after the release for less than retain.
